Hostal Lleras calle 8 — Hotel in Medellín

I suspect that as a hostel, is a good place. I stayed in one of their hotel "suites" and that is what my review will be about. Everybody that I encountered was nice, friendly and helpful. The price for the hostel rooms and the hotel suites includes a decent breakfast. The place is always clean.||||I chose to stay here because 1) it is almost directly across the street from the Spanish school I was attending and 2) they said they had "suites." I am an old man that travels to learn Spanish. I am at the point in my life that comfort is more important than cost. The concept of a suite appealed to me. I stayed there from 09 Aug 18 to 26 Aug 18.||||Hostel Lleras Calle 8 and I have a different definition of "suite." In the past, when I have stayed in a suite, it has been larger than a normal hotel room and frequently has 2 rooms. Normally they have a refrigerator and microwave, a desk or table where I can do my work and eat and a large amount of storage for clothes, luggage, etc. My suite here had none of these. My room was best described and an older, normal hotel room that had a TV and air conditioning. To be fair, there was a shared table not far from my room and a kitchen with a shared refrigerator and microwave although these areas were not air conditioned.||||Other than not being what I expected a suite to be, there were three things that disappointed me. The temperature in the shower fluctuated between hot and cold. Then after less than 5 minutes, there was only cold water. After some testing, I concluded that the hot water was on a timer.||||Another problem is that the suites were in the front of the building. And the front of the building is directly across from noisy clubs and the nightlife area. The noise lasted from about 10 pm to 3 am. As bad as it was, it did not prevent me from sleeping.||||Finally, twice I had a beer taken from the shared refrigerator. I also had a hamburger, in the restaurant bag, taken. Nobody ever touched the meals I had in wrapped foil. This was over the course of more than 2 weeks.||||The woman who cleans the place, I believe her name is Claudia, is so nice and works so hard. Because of her everything is always clean. The shared table where I liked to work was frequently a mess from other people staying there. She cleaned it many times a day so that it was always clean if I wanted to use it.||||In spite of my complaints, I had a good time while I was there and, should I return to the same Spanish school, I would stay...

My girlfriend and I stayed in a dorm room here for 5 nights in December and it was by far and above our favourite hostel we’ve stayed at in South America after 2 months of traveling Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.|This place is so cheap but don’t let the low price fool you, this place has everything.|You are provided with towels and the showers are hot and powerful.|Breakfast is included within the price and this consists of bread / toast with different fruits each day. Coffee is also free. The hostel sells water for 5,000 pesos for a litre, so it’s perhaps cheaper to buy elsewhere but at least you have the option.|The hostel is located very near Parque Lleras next to loads of bars, restaurants and night clubs, so this really is the place to be. It’s in a very safe area and we never felt uncomfortable.|A laundry place is about a 2 minute walk from the hostel but they drop off directly back to this hostel the next day.|The bedrooms are wonderful and the beds are so comfy. You are provided with a pillow and a blanket which is great. There is also a reading light, safes and a charge point in your bed.|The communal kitchen is great and we used this twice - it had all the utensils we needed.|Sometimes you can hear music outside but honestly this didn’t affect our sleep one bit.|The staff are very friendly and welcoming and helped us with all of our queries whenever we had them.|All in all, a fantastic hostel with superb facilities and I would absolutely 100% recommend staying here for a fantastic time...

THEFT BY EMPLOYEES DON’T stay here. I mean do if you want your things STOLEN OUT OF YOUR LOCKER. First off, they don’t let you use your own lock so you have to use the keys provided if you want to lock anything up. THEN they steal your money (shout out to MIGUEL at the front desk who blocked my number after texting him about having keys to the lockers). This didn’t only happen to me, several people reported they had money go missing and we all locked our lockers. Thankfully I was carrying my credit cards around when it happened and they didn’t take my passport, but don’t trust this shady place. They will tell you they don’t have spare keys so it couldn’t possibly be them, but with so many drunk fools losing their keys, I know they have spares. Also I thought I had cash go missing twice that week. Definitely not a coincidence, I always carried my keys in my bag when out and locked my bag with the keys when I was at the hostel. Always checked that I locked it and also when I noticed all my cash was gone ($100 USD) I had to unlock my locker. So I know it was locked. MANY CASES OF THEFT REPORTED,...
