It's only fair to be clear the lower side of Scores is NO reflection of some things that are entirely out of a Hotels control (like road works/building site next door!) Or the fact that I personally made a poor choice in the 'style' of a hotel. It is, however, to do with a few things IN the room which should be improved. ||Postives: |1. Good location ||Negatives: |1. Room 401 was extremely difficult. On our floor room 402 was in the middle. And 403 at the rear. Possibly depending on any floor you may be on, if the layout is the same, then all rooms with balcony (and happen to end the "01" rooms - will have a lot of noise from the street. Whether it's noise from the opposite Police station, some sort of garage-type place next door that consistently has motor generators pumping away, or a building site going on next door. ||In fairness it is important to say the lovely young lady at desk did offer to change our room for the following day, but as we had a tour starting at 7am it was high impractical to do a "room change" so we stuck it out. Which brings me onto the next point....||2. It is very much like an "apartment" rather than a hotel. In the sense that, if you need something outside of certain hours, and housekeeping may have left, then you have to wait until the next day. Ie. We needed an Iron. We asked on our way out around 6pm & thought it may be left in the room for when we're back. However, housekeeping had left. And once again, as mentioned earlier, if you've got Medellin tours and events booked that mean you'll be leaving early etc and won't be there - then its somewhat impractical. ||It is however great if you plan to stay longer and literally treat your entire apartment like an "air bnb" and more like your home for a longer period. It isn't great for those coming and going and need to stick to an agenda on a three day stint in Medellin. ||Like I said, this isn't the Hotels fault. It just realised I should have booked more of an actual Hotel. ||Now the main parts that really should have been better. Overall easier to say "it's super trendy, but little functional substance"||3. The Aircon is not strong enough, and you cannot bring it Lower than a certain figure (seemed to be 61F). Room 401 has extremely high ceilings, hot air rises, the bed is like a studio-flat mezzanine (ie. Up) and the aircon only can cool the 1.5metres directly infront of itself. Therefore, we died. Hopefully the images show the position that the bed is adjacent to the Aircon and is VERY HOT. We even tried to sleep on the floor out of desperation. ||4. The shower Is do bad, I showered from the ice bucket, using pots and pans. (No joke see the images!). There's no pressure so It was harder to wash away the foam after I made the initial error of trying to shower. Probably better I'd stayed dirty! ||5. The lighting in the BATHROOM especially is extremely poor. During the day there's light from a glass panel letting day light in. However, also means gets painfully warm - especially when attempting to use hair dryer - or even do makeup! (Which I've mentioned the Mirror situation in #6). However as soon as the light goes, the ONLY lights are stuck to the extremely high ceiling which sheds some vague shadow of a light which mostly is deflected off your nose and you won't see yourself anyhow. ||6. The entire place only has mirror in the bathroom. This is ridiculous, clearly for an establishment where tourists may be staying - that need to get READY! There's no full length Mirror. So you just have to assume you look decent. Worse than that, if you're trying to get ready and make it out for a day of events in Medellin, and the only Mirror is in the bathroom that your partner may be using - it's a bloody nightmare! ||The hotel has a lot of potential - but genuinely, the most simple stuff needs to be rectified. ||Room 401: |1. Very noisy|2. Very hot |3. Unacceptable shower |4. Only Mirror in the bathroom |5. Ridiculous low dim lighting like you're in some fancy romantic restaurant! ||Otherwise, the location is great. |Friendly people at the desk. |Clean. |I can only hope the other rooms are better. |I've really tried to leave a...
Read moreWhile I had hoped this place would be perfect of our family as it had a kitchen and bunk beds and close to many great restaurants, we had a terrible experience here - multiple nights. The apartments are being used by men to bring home their escorts. 3/3 nights 3 different men and their escorts. They play loud music all night long and we heard screaming/moans/ etc from sex and other activities every night we were there. We complained, he pounded on doors, we pounded on walls and finally on the last night security was able to o stop the man and his escort from being loud about 12:30am. I even introduced myself to the man before his “date” and told him I would not tolerate a 3rd night, yet he still was loud. Royal Living gave us a small refund, but the place I am afraid is being used as a place to bring prostitutes to have sex and party. It was quite disturbing. The staff and the breakfast were lovely and the apartment was very nice if only they rented to other like minded...
Read moreOn arrival, we were given a nice enough room with a balcony but asked for a quieter one. We were told that we could be moved but Santiago gave us a noisier room overlooking a building site with no balcony, the noise is unbearable. When we saw the room that we had been moved to, we asked if we could stay in our original room but were told no! Albaro and Andreas were really lovely but Santiago was extremely...
