After a few meals here, I can safely say that I definitely like the place and what it offers. The food is good and reasonably priced for the area. However, that's not what I value most. Firstly, I really appreciate that the staff here tolerate my basic (~A2) spoken Spanish. Lots of places in El Poblado have staff who respond in English, despite clearly understanding my poor Spanish. I'm not in the UK or the US, so I do appreciate not being made to feel stupid or like my level is a big problem for them.
The other reason I value this place is the fast service. When I travel, I typically do so solo and I usually have to get up early for work. I don't really care about a "dining experience" as much as I do fast service; food is calories for me. Tasty calories, but calories nonetheless. I don't want to wait around. I might not be typical in this respect, but I want to eat something nice, leave very quickly and enjoy the rest of my afternoon before I need to sleep.
Este lugar tiene buen comida; hamburguesas, papas and otro opciones. Sin embargo, yo primero quiero servicio rápido. Yo visita restaurantes para comer, no por experiences sociales. Este es porque yo viaje solo. Me gusta comer rápido y salir. Buen, educado y...
Read moreMy stomach has been unwell since eating here four days ago. I have noticed that there are at least two other reviewers who mentioned that they got ill from the food. In one case, the owner told them that they just didn't know how to eat properly, which seems to me pretty cheeky.
As another recent reviewer mentioned, the service was decidedly chaotic. The owner was working both as the cook and server, while simultaneously training a new staff member. On two occasions, she broke off taking our order to tend to another table.
I had the ajiaco, which actually did not taste much like ajiaco to me. Over the past 20 years, I've had ajiaco many times in Colombia (including vegan ajiaco), and I have made it myself, so I'm not a novice in this regard. The corn and the orellana (oyster mushroom) were, from my perspective, undercooked.
I give two stars rather than one because I think the owner was trying to be helpful. By the same token, I found it strange when she was saying there was no cross contamination and mentioned cutting meat. Why would someone in a vegan restaurant talk about cutting meat? But as another reviewer has stated, it seems that the restaurant is actually not...
Read moreStayed in medillin for a week. Checked out every vegetarian restaurant in el poblado. This restaurant was by far the best (the others weren't bad either but AMA is next level). It's all vegan which you wouldn't even notice if it wasn't labeled. The chef and the chef de cuisine are absolute pros when it comes to vegan cuisine, really impressive. And I'm really critical with food, believe me. Price and performance are absolutely top. At the restaurants around the corner you get half if the food for the same price and much lower quality of ingredients. AMA pays great attention to quality, which is probably why it tasted so good. I've never written such a long and positive review before, but I just can't help it here. I recommend this restaurant to everyone! Even non-vegetarians should be thrilled by this food, I'm absolutely sure of that. I give it 12/10 (the highest I've ever given it was 11/10😅) these guys are pros when it comes to cooking... They will see me...
