Hotel Granate — Hotel in Santa Marta

This is not a HOTEL, it's pretty much an Inn (Big old house with rooms).||We were 5 people and booked 3 rooms through Expedia. This place DO NOT take CREDIT CARDS, the use HOTEL COLLECT by Expedia. We paid 50% before we arrived to an account (Scotiabank) given by the hotel, and the other 50% at the hotel when we arrived. (very inconvenient method to pay, but you shall encounter many properties in Colombia with this unfriendly way to get a reservation)||I must admit the location is the best that this place has to offer. It's AMAZING and CONVENIENTLY located, you are basically a few steps of everything. However, what you pay is what you get. It's very cheap for a reason, do not expect something good or luxury for the price.||The room that I was given was located on the second floor, bathroom was very outdated; if you take a shower the whole bathroom/restroom gets flooded. Sheets were stained, A/C (Window unit) worked pretty well, however the wire and electrical connection were very dangerous due to an improvised connection from the electrical socket to the A/C unit. Bed was comfortable.||The other 2 rooms were located on the first floor; one of them was up to today's standards, a TV, A/C (Split unit), etc. very good room.  Unfortunately, the other room was worse than the one I was assigned, A/C was loud, the ceiling fan was about to fall, and the shower did not work properly.||Management is currently working on updating the rooms; so, probably if you are staying in this property you shall encounter a very nice room and a better stay than we did. Do not stay at this hotel for any reason I paid for double occupancy and when my guest arrived they did not allow him into the hotel because I believe they did not like that he was black.
