I used to run a hostel so I'm very aware of what's going on behind the scenes. First off, me (M27) and my girlfriend(F26) were staying in the private room. The staff went in and out of room 3 days in a row and one day at least 3-4 times. You can tell by the way locks work, and stuff was ut of place. We had our debit card stolen and a small amount of US cash (20-40 USD, not sure). They pulled out our computers, hard drives, wallets etc. We informed the staff and they informed the owner who didn't do anything. My guess was that it was the housecleaner or the hippie girls that volunteer so he doesn't have to pay a real staff||||Also there's no security on the window, No bars, so somebody could climb in at any time, as it was next to a walkway. ||||Besides that, the hostel appears to chill and fun, but it's really just a sloppy business that gets away with not paying attention to details. The septic systems is classically backed up and overused, thus the toilet doesn't flush correctly and have poop in them half the time. The kitchen is half stacked, with a random supply of utensils and cookware. There's no real system for drinkable water, it's more of get it yourself and if you forget, maybe the bottles by the kitchen are fair game? ||||There's no real authority presence and the volunteers don't really know how to curate an experience for you. Lacking in knowledge of tours around or the best foodspots to hit up. ||||Hostels kinda run themselves as long as you have one cleaner- that's because nobody holds them accountable and that's what's...

We booked two nights earlier this month through booking.com. On arrival the receptionist tried to increase the base price (taxes and a cleaning fee were on top- which we were aware of).
I showed him our booking confirmation with the agreed price. The receptionist would not accept it. I asked to see his records, however the internet was down so he couldn't show me these.
He added for all he knew I could have been a graphics designer who had made up a fake booking confirmation with a lower amount (I am not, and had not). He went on to suggest the problem could have been with booking.com. He said if we did not pay this new higher amount we could not have the room, we refused and left.
I asked booking.com if there was an error and they apologised for the hostel's attempt to charge us more, stating the price on the booking confirmation was correct and should have been honoured. Booking.com said they would pay the difference between the price on our booking confirmation and our accommodation costs elsewhere.
In my view it was a blatant attempt at petty theft by Oasis. On booking.com they appear cheaper than other hostels to attract guests, but they aren't as they increase the price on arrival.
Unfortunately this doesn't appear to be a one-off as if you look at the trip advisor reviews someone else has mentioned the price increasing on arrival. Place looked alright for what it's worth, but I would save yourself the hassle and...
Read moreOk. Can I give this a lower star??? So here’s the bits. I stayed here for 1 night. It was supposed to be two. I was literally in fear for my life staying in the family little “house” as there was ZERO security and we were terrified all night long. I would write more but it only allows so many characters. When I told them about my concerns about the safety of the resort, booked thru Hostelworld.com, they listed me as a no show, refused a discount for the second night as we left due to fear for our lives, and since it was “no show” we aren’t allowed to comment on hostel world. Alas. Here we are. Another platform that they can’t censor me on. I am a single mom traveling with my kids. I have traveled over 28 countries in 8 years with it kids and stayed at different types of places. Never have I ever (yah were gonna play this game) checked out due to being in fear of my children’s lives. The owner refused to call me and talk to me and basically did the equivalency of ghosting me and blocking me. But internet here we are. This place is NOT SAFE for American travelers. If you are a SOLO FEMALE or group of females, if you are traveling with kids, avoid this place. Worse sleep I ever had as I lay awake all night terrified that we were going to be taken and disappear for ever and the owner didn’t give a damn. Worst stay I have ever had. Block me on hostel world, oasis. But I will protect others from this horrific...
