This place is ... Only for the unsuspecting. Which we were. So hopefully this review helps. For context, I am a mom with two kids. When I called to ask about it, the owner went on and on about how it's a great safe place for kids.||||This place is at the end of a short road on Cocal Street, famed for being the hot spot for sex trade workers in Costa Rica (I now know). They only take cash, and they also rent rooms by the hour. There are sex trade workers outside the gate. There is a kid at the gate who is apparently doing something. ||||It seems like you're in someone's derelict backyard. There is an abandoned looking house where the pool is. The pool has many broken tiles and I don't think it's usuable. There is a weird tree house structure on the property that leans to the one side. ||||The rooms are strange, but they were clean. They're like these strange stand alone cabin or motel style.||||You have to pay the owner up front for all the days, no refunds. After our night arrival, discovery of the location and what that meant, and morning when we saw all the derelict buildings and there were still sex trade workers everywhere I was very creeped out. However, my kids then almost stepped on a dirty needle lying near the sidewalk. I lost it and demanded a refund. They said no refunds so I called the owner and said there was a dirty needle my kids almost stepped on. He didn't believe me so I had him come look. He yelled a lot saying it wasn't his. I said I didn't care whose it was, I just wanted out of there. He was a real jerk about it and said I should learn how to ask nicely. But seriously. ||||So anyway, I wouldn't recommend staying there, unless you are into this...
Read moreI needed a last minute hotel and found this one on Orbitz. The strange part was though the reservation was made with Orbitz, I had to pay the hotel in cash. Beware of that.||||The room had a big bed, I think a king, but the room was barely bigger than that. The entrance was through the sliding glass door, kind of looking at the beach. There was a large bathroom and shower without a shower door or curtain. ||||The pool was very odd, it was essentially for the abandoned looking property next door with the access was through a breached brick/rock wall. That being said the pool wasn't bad.||||The room was clean, bed comfortable and it felt safe enough. There was someone watching the front gate and at some point in the night the gate was closed. If you had a vehicle it could go behind the wall. ||||For someplace to stay the night this property fit the bill, I was out with friends until late at night. But you wouldn't want to spend much time...
Read moreThis place is a total dump .. the owner looks like a homeless man roaming the property … there is drug addict and hookers in front of hotel while there is the owners children running around the property .. the room are the lowest budget room I have ever stayed in my life … the owner brags about his run down tree house bar with no bartender and no alcohol in it nor a bartender … this place is a run down joke … it half operates as a short stay hotel for men to bring hookers and I would be surprised if the creepy homeless looking owner set up hidden cameras inside .. this place just gave me and my friends the creeps .. it was totally gross and not worth the 100 dollars .. and he excepts is cash .. guess he doesn’t like paying his fare share of taxes .. don’t stay here I’m warning you this...
