To be honest, based on the reviews I expected more. The garden salad was really nice and flavourful. Avocado stuffed with shrimp was interesting, but not spectacular. Tuna steak was mediocre: the tuna itself was really good, but the rice that came with it felt old (dried and flavourless) and the sauce was extremely salty. The waitress forgot about one more dish that I anticipated the most, but I was already full to reorder. I had a mojito which was nice. There was live music outside. We preferred the inside sitting (A/C, street odors and less "spirits of the night").
The restaurant is seated on the main street, close to the beach. Did not see any street parking available.
The final bill (not the one on the picture) already included the service tax of 10%, but had a hand written comment "tips in cash please". I did leave an additional tip, but coming back to think about it: it ain't nice! Taking down a star for this.
Overall, there was nothing special about this place that might cause me to want to come back
P.S. I understand there should have been "specials", but we were not...
Read moreWhile searching for a restaurant with Good food and a live atmosphere I came across “Mono Verde”. While reading reviews everyone raved about their service and food. One name that kept coming up was a waiter named Edwin. To my surprise We had the pleasure of being waited on by Edwin. Edwin and the wait staff did not disappoint. Everything from the complimentary fried potatoe chips with their homemade dip to the gourmet burger and delicious chocolate mousse dessert which was recommended by another waiter was amazing! The beers were cold and the sangria was sweet with just the right amount of alcohol. I give this place 5 stars due to their attention to detail and friendliness. I went to a restaurant right down the street nights before and it was the complete opposite. Bad food , horrible service you could tell $$ was all that mattered. NOT AT MONO VERDE!! They make you feel welcomed and...
Read moreMono Verde was one our breakfast spot at the top of our week stay in Jaco. We were a party of 5 and had mixed reviews about the experience. Definitely a prime location on Pastor Diaz Ave. as well as a more updated restaurant in my opinion and compared to Sunrise breakfast. Pros were they offered a variety of teas, potatoes or home fries were well seasoned, well cooked and tasty rather than deep fried or battered. Fresh fruits and good coffee. Cons were over cooked eggs, pancakes were doughy, toast cold and dry and time to get breakfast items should be a bit shorter. I feel this was due to lack of staff on that day given I only saw two people working there and at times our waiter was sweeping the floor. Not something you want to be doing while service food. It was an overall ok experience and I will revisit given the location of the restaurant or to try some lunch or dinner items...
