Hotel Las Olas — Hotel in Jacó

This was our second stay at Las Olas and we returned because of the convenient location and super friendly vibe. That was still the case; the rooms are very comfortable and staff is great. The beach and restaurant can be busy-but that was expected-we stayed to watch the lunar eclipse and almost had a magical evening. Unfortunately the lock on our room was difficult to use and whole we were done at the beach so one walked in off the street and entered our room and made off with a bag of personal items including cellphones and a wallet. This was partly our fault and the staff helped report the incident to the police and had video surveillance-but I am mentioning it so that guests realize that crime can happen anywhere-even in this hippy little beach town. Came here for breakfast and the view onto the beach was great. Loved the huevos rancheros, which come with an extra spicy homemade salsa, if you ask nicely. The portions were massive, and would easily see you through to the evening. The coffee (dark roast) was good, as were the juices, and the ice-creams - should have tried those earlier in the stay. I preferred it to next door at Vida Hermosa, as it was laidback and chilled, and quieter - but you could still pick up Vida's wifi ;)||||All the rooms and around the hotel were being refurbished, and not just at a superficial level, so it seems as if they're investing in the place. ||||This is also the location to meet up for the turtle tours, a not to be missed opportunity when in...

Just renovating... Lovely place, fantastic location, awesome bar/restaurant location and lovely staff. I want to go back... I went back and OH NO! They have doubled the price, the work isn't finished and the rooms that are "finished" are poor. Cockroaches running out of the bar/kitchen in the morning. And worst of all: the management don't care. I complained and was fobbed off with nonsense and the promise of an email follow up... Nothing. Very disappointed... I suggest you try one of the other many...
