Restaurante Vista Hermosa — Restaurant in Jacó

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Vista Hermosa was highly recommended to us by a traveller who regularly visits. We can see the appeal as the setting is beautiful.

We visited on a quiet night when the parking lot was empty. Truthfully, we were intending on going to VIDA next door. However, a waiter ran out into the parking lot to ensure we went into Vista as it was dead inside and they were itching for customers. He also said we couldn’t park there and go next door which I guess is fair enough. We went in as we felt bad that they had no business.

Once seated, he told us of the highly recommended special - seafood platter which sounded great. Thankfully we asked how much it costs which he didn’t willingly share - 72,000 colones or $140 USD! Obviously we did not order that and we proceeded to order several $15-20 items off the menu along with a glass of wine and a beer. He really didn’t like that and even told us the item was not available to order and forced us to get higher priced items.

From that point on, it got very awkward and he ensured we received slow, awkward service. In hindsight we should’ve left as the atmosphere was completely ruined. It was tough to sit through a dinner we were looking forward to because we did not cave into the upselling tactics. Nonetheless it ruined our night. Do yourselves a favor and visit a...

ok, so the food is just insane good, I took the seafood soup expecting this to be small as usual home in US, but when I got the soup, I understood that ordering main dish was a huge mistake. the soups dish itself pretty much is complete dinner and it is so good that you cannot stop 😃. the place is by the beach so you see the ocean pretty much anywhere you sitting. This is not an inside place, so ceiling fans only. They do not have draft beer. anyway that food is excellent but be mindful not to order a lot of stuff at the same time, I would recommend to order in stages, eat one dish and then think about whether order another one 🙂, otherwise you may end up just overeating because you just can't leave that delicious food. the price is ok, not cheap, but not very expensive. We were offered seafood sampler for 2 with all kinds of stuff and the price is $120 that perhaps would work for someone, just mind the portions that they have if you can handle it. Beautiful treehouse-style restaurant overlooking the beach, and attached to a hotel. Open air, with fans, comfortable environment. Below the main dining area there are tables on the grass before the beach, there's a cute swingset, and trees with an iguana here or there. The service is excellent! Servers speak perfect english. The cocktails are beautiful and fresh. The food is delicious, and well presented. I recommend the red snapper and octopus and squid ceviche. There's parking in the front. The wifi is usually unusably slow. The facilities are clean. The vibe is comfortable, casual, friendly, and relaxing. I'd say the price point is typical and mid-range.
