Monte Campana Jaco — Hotel in Jacó

I don't know what's wrong with the reviews of this place but DONT make the mistake and trust them, we did. The experience started with me lifting the blankets on the bed just to find out they had not changed the sheets from the previous guests: their were hairs, stains, breadcrumbs, all kinds of things you don't want to have in your bed. They changed the sheets when we addressed the problem, but unfortunately it didn't stop there. The curtains had numerous, disgusting stains of god knows what. Puke? Cum? Bearnaise sauce? We also saw two cockroaches and there was a big water damage on the wall. The whole room was very old and felt unclean. The pool area did not look clean either, and the breakfast was the saddest breakfast I have seen in my whole life (we skipped it, didn't even bother since it was not what you would call appetizing). Accordingly, it was run in a very unprofessional way, and it smells like old cigarettes.

To the good: the manager/owner was very nice and the AC worked even though it looked very old.

Overall, I would not recommend anyone with any kind of standards at all to stay in this "hotel" and it was probably my worst hotel...

Many issues from the beginning which was quite frustrating; was told My reservation was cancelled and the hotel was full. Luis managed to provide me with a room for the night and swapped rooms the following night. Unfortunately the next room I was in flooded after a shower and I was moved again. The last room however was good and Luis was nice enough to make sure I was fairly comfortable throughout my stay. The pool was a nice option to have if you didn’t want to go to the beach. It would have been nice to also not rely on Luis alone for entrance into the hotel. Maybe a front door key or keypad could be provided to the guests to be able to come and go as...
