Alpha Arenal Hotel & Hostel — Hotel in La Fortuna

Staying at Alpha Arenal has been the best hostel experience so far in Costa Rica for us. And in an amazing location, just 2 blocks from the center of La Fortuna but being as quiet as it can be, and with a beautiful view of the Arenal Volcano too.

Wilson is an amazing host, with an excellent, nice and polite staff working side-by-side with him. He even sat down with us just after arriving in order to understand our needs and suggest great according activities and places for us to do and explore.

Being a recently-set-up hostel, I've got to admit that they've got a lot already sorted out. The atmosphere of the hostel is amazing, with plenty of places to hang-out with other guests and actually feel the hostel vibe so many of us seek and love, including board-games too! I met amazing people over my 3-nights stay, went on hikes and tours with them and felt the good-bye sensations you only experience when you really connect with people.

The Kitchen is great, with all what you would need. More than what I've seen in other hostels, and this is one of the most important parts of setting up a good hostel. It has an excellent laundry service too.

Also, my Room was super clean, with a great hot-water shower and comfortable bed, as well as a great fan that made our sleep a breeze.

My group got the 8 basic dorm style room and I liked how there were privacy curtains and chargers for each and every bed. The room was a bit musty smelling and humid, however the bed linen was clean and the comfort of the mattress was adequate.The staff was very friendly and was very flexible with the time that we were able to get there. The traffic was bad with the public bus and we arrived around 11:30pm and Wilson was kind to go out of his way to drive us to get some food nearby. He was very helpful with anything that we needed help with and told us more information about the destinations we were planning to do (la fortuna waterfall and hot springs) like more free activities to do. He told us about the bus schedule which was good to know and was very communicative and explained me any questions I had whatsoever. Overall I would recommend staying here because of how convenient it is in terms of location but also it had everything I would want...

One of the most affordable hostels in la fortuna in a perfect location. Walking distance from el salto rope swing and town (plenty of sodas and restaurants for all desires).

The rooms and bathroom was clean and comfortable. Good energy to meet people as well. Toucans in the backyard sometimes too 🙈

There are transporations Wilson the manager arranges daily if people are interested (hikes, hot springs, sloths, etc). He is very informed about the area and will help you with your needs. Still recommend trying Uber and hitch hiking to get around the cheapest way.
