Let's start with the positives... atmosphere and the arroz con pollo. Other than that, total bust. We were there at 8 PM, only tourists in the place. The girl serving by tables was obviously not happy to see us there, spent as little time with us as possible and did so with a sour face the whole time. She spent most of the time chatting up the few locals there, which is fine, but no need to make us feel unwelcome. The food itself tasted old, kind of like how you know gas station food tastes sitting under heat lamps for hours. We got a chicken casado (underseasoned, plain) the fried fish dish (so, so bad), chicken tenders (hello gas station!), chicken fettuccine (bland, bland, bland), and the areoz con pollo which was pretty decent. Oh and they forgot to give us our beef casado, which we didn't realize until getting back to our place. The food is priced higher than other sodas in the area. If you're a local, maybe this is a good place? But if you're a tourist, stay away. Many better options. We especially liked Soda...
Read moreWow. Just wow. Where do I start? Soda Mima is an all-out gem! Firstly, the food was delicious. We had the beef in sauce and the pork chop. Beef was super moist and tender, clearly it had been slow cooked with love. Sure, a pork chop is harder to mess up, but it was done beautifully, really moist and tasty.
Second, the price - incredible value for money. Bill came to 12,000 including two drinks.
Third - the atmosphere. So peaceful and relaxed, off the main street and tucked away, while still being lively and vibrant. Actually what we loved most about this place is that they didn’t have the music blaring so loud, unlike many many other joints in Latin America.
Fourth, service. Such genuine and attentive service from the young girl working there. A true family owned place.
Don’t eat anywhere else in La Fortuna. For three nights straight, we...
Read moreThis was the best low to mid budget place around, maybe even overall. We ate several things: 1. So-called casados was so rich in taste: mixed veggies, rice and beans, salad and tasty beef in sauce🤗 the portion was big as well. 2. Grilled maki maki fish in shrimp sauce with some rice and salad was amazing 🥰 could ear ot every day 3. Hubbie added some mexican for an appetizer... We loved this soda in La Fortuna, the owners were amazing, food affordable, portions big and so tasty. The area is small but cute and the toilets are ok. The service was quick. The family- like atmosphere and so many drawings from all around the world confirm we are not the only ones to enjoy it. Definitely a recommendation to visit this place, great value...
