This place is NOT as advertised!!!! There is NO mountain view!! My window looked out onto a GRASSY HILL. When i asked about the mountain view i was told-NONE OF THE ROOMS HAVE A MOUNTAIN VIEW( even though that is what they advertised!!!) If you look out the front yo can see the TIP of the volcano but BARELY!( I went in the "green season" so it was covered by a tree but even if there was no foliage you could prob still barely see it) There is NO WIFI in the rooms ( as advertised) If i pressed against the window i was BARELY able to get ONE BAR & i was in cabin #1- which is closest to the office! You have to drive up to the reception office to be close enough to use the wifi. THIS PLACE IS ALSO 5 STEPS AWAY FROM A FARM!!!! I LOVE animals but - this is not advertised & they SHOULD because you can SMELL THE COWS & there is a rooster who starts crowing at 4AM!!!! I don't know what walking paths people are talking about as everything is corded off for the farm next door! it was DEF not busy when i went so it was myself & 2 other girls who did not speak English. I was waiting for a tour to come pick me up & even they could not find the place as it must have just recently been renamed to Hideaway Lodge. I tried to do a quick check-in as i was expecting the tour to come get me- Carlos(?) the guy at reception seemed nice enough-but he is the one who told me that none of the rooms have mountain views. He then told me he had to leave for an "emergency" & would not be back until 7am the NEXT DAY - leaving me & these 2 girls BY OURSELVES the whole nite-or so i thought... I came back from Baldi Hot Spring & Buffet dinner combo ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I booked this separately through another company) I came back at 11pm to see lights on in the office & i thought i saw a head duck down! You have to drive past reception to get to the cabins & when i drove by i saw the same receptionist watching tv but he was crouched down like HE WAS HIDING!!! This CREEPED THE HELL OUT OF ME so i didn't stop to use the wifi & drove straight to my cabin & slept ( barely) with the lights on!! My fridge that was in the room was rusted out on the inside & i had to fight with my shower door to open it. I found the place also had a bit of a sulphur smell-maybe from the farm? There is NO restaurant on site- you have to eat at a different hotel called Arenal Palace that is about 1.5-2km away!!! For a couple of $$ more i personally RECOMMEND you STAY THERE INSTEAD!!! THAT place HAS MOUNTAIN VIEWS- of Arenal Volcano BOTH IN THE ROOMS & as you enjoy breakfast with an UNOBSTRUCTED VIEW OF ARENAL VOLCANO! Simply Beautiful!! The owner was very nice as was his family. A MUCH BETTER PLACE TO STAY, nice big clean rooms, BEAUTIFUL VIEWS & easier to find!! I don't know who did the other reviews for this hotel but those positive reviews were what made me choose this place but i found THEY WERE VERY WRONG!!! TRUST me - Arenal Palace was only a few dollars more & so much more worth it! I wish i would have known about it before hand- I would have stayed there instead ( I also was supposed to be contacted by the owner of Hideaway Lodge because i was so unhappy- but never did) I stayed there because it was so cheap ( cheap deal online) but you DEF get what you pay for!! I only stayed there one night -but one night was enough! I DO NOT...
Read moreThis house looks just like described and seen in the pictures. It was very comfortable and spacious for our family of 5. The backyard is a true oasis. And the ability to walk from this house to so many different restaurants was wonderful. We did not have a car but that did not hinder us in the least. We decided all the activities we wanted to do before arriving and Nohelia booked them all for us. It was so easy. And the recommendations all came from their guide that they provide you after booking. All three big activities were fantastic—zip lining, white water rafting and a visit and volunteer opportunity at Proyecto Asis (an animal refuge/rehabilitation center). And if you are missing your cat at home, there was a very friendly one that visited the backyard for many pets...
Read moreBeautiful View, Beautiful hike to the river, Free hot springs near the property, and a delicious breakfast. PERFECT. My family and I couldn’t have hoped for a better spot to spend out week in La Fortuna. After a day full of activates, it means the world to come back to a place where we can feel at home on vacation. I hear birds singling, and the sounds of nature all around. The rooms are clean and very quaintly decorated. The volcano view in the morning and around sunset is truly something to cherish. The owners are friendly, flexible, and always happy to help. I honestly don’t think our family vacation would have been the same if we had stayed...
