Hostel Centar — Hotel in City of Zagreb

disaster ....disappointed...... do not book there || on 24 of september i reserved 3 nights in centar hostel zagreb to stay from 25 of November to 28 of November for 10 euros a night ||on saturday 25 of november in the morning owner of the hostel called me to inform me that my reservation is cancelled because i have not money in my banking account ||and she said to me if you want to come will pay 50 euros by night after i was 10 euros per night ||that was inside bus on the way from Ljubljana to zagreb ||so i lent a mobile phone from a lady because my battery is dead to reserve a hostel before arriving to border between slovenia and croatia || croatian police at the border called hostel to sure if i have reservation or no ?|| i have some questions for all people who have read my review ||did owner of hostel will lose any thing if she informed me in september that my reservation is canceled?||what will happen at border with police if she did not call me in the morning to inform me that my reservation is canceled ? police will back me to ljubljana ||the real reason for cancelation my reservation?||i went to that hostel during my tour and staying in zagreb 4 timed at differnt time but i did not find any one in the hostel. the door was closed and last day before i leave Croatia i found her and hostel which was dark and that means no guests in the hostel ||and she said to me numbers on your visa not true so hotels .com canceled your reservation .i said to her i have an accounton on hotels .com and they save my bank card numbers and by it i reserve any hostel quickly so impossible what you say||after that she said to me the bank card was vacant from money i said to her i have about 2000 euros in my card and there is no time my card was no money plus i have free cancelation for my reservation in your hostel||after she said immigration police called me to reassure if you have or not a reservation and i supported you and said to them yes he has i said to her police of boarder asked day and night hostel that not you and how did you support me with lying ||therefore i released that her hostel was vacant from guests so she will not open the hostel just for me i think was better if she reserved another hostel for me instead of cancel my reservation that happened with me twice in santorini and sofia in off season time||if my reservation is canceled supose that the site which i reserved by it will send me a message and this did not happened ||what happened with me will happen with you clear that she can dose anything for money she can sells you if someone paid more ||do...

Great location in the middle of Zagreb to explore the city. The hostel is very clean and tidy, although relatively small.

We (a couple) booked a private room which came with a double bed, another separate single bed, a wardrobe, chest of drawers, and a bed side table. The room came with bedding and towels and we had a comfortable stay.

The communal living room was small but had a few sofas and a big TV. In addition, there is a small kitchen with free tea and coffee.

The owner was also very friendly and helpful. As we arrived before check in time to the city, the owner messaged me to let me know when the room was ready which was very kind of her. We were also able to store our luggage in their communal living room after check out and come back to collect it afterwards.

Just a few negatives to be aware of though. The sound proofing wasn't great so we were able to hear conversations in the next room. There are only 2 showers and 1 ladies and 1 men's toilets for sharing by the whole hostel so there were times when we had to wait for the toilet and showers to become available. In addition, I believe the hot water is only on at certain times i.e. mainly in the evening so my partner said there was no hot water when he had a shower in the morning or after midnight. That being said, the shower temperature and power were both good when it was working.

Overall, despite these few things to be aware of, we enjoyed our stay and I would...

The location is amazing! It's directly in the city center and everything we need was reached by tram or walk. Just for feel comfortable we use the taxi to the airport (around 200/250 Kuna) A few supermarkets are very close. Food and shops and sightseeing was very close. Easy to reach by walk.

The host was very cute and nice. We had a nice welcoming and explaination. The rooms are very cute decorated. All we need was there. A small kitchen, bathroom, toilets.

We had a small problem and after a short Whatsapp the problem was solved. That's very kind and direct communication. That was really nice.

This was our first experience in a hostel and it was very successful. We will repeat! We stayed for 4 nights and we felt very well here. The price was also very acceptable.

The building is very chic and have a lot of charm. The old windows are not perfect isolated, but that's the building itself. So also here we arranged ourself. After a long day of sightseeing we was so tired that we sleept fast and hear nothing from the outside anymore. The rooms was clean, just the shower was little bit old and not 100% perfect, but it was enough.
