Not sure where to begin.
We came in, took a seat and 1st waiter came to us with Menu to serve us.. While we are looking at the menu, random older lady comes in and started to shout how we took her place, which I said to her how I am supposed to know this is her or if it is reserved as there was no signs or anyone sitting (table was free to sit). Which she went to waiter and started telling how rude I was.
My expectation was - You come in and take a seat if it is free like most places do. (this is not fancy place where u reserve table)
Different waiter comes and says that we need to leave now. Which we asked if there are other tables, he said no and this was reserved. I said that is not an issue just for the future to place a sign if something is reserved, which he got even more annoyed and ended telling us how we are supposed to ask if it was reserved and telling me as I am young there is alot for me to learn. Let me say this, how I am supposed to know if the tables are reserved as even first waiter didnt know that. He is "older" then me but still expect from customers to do his job.
Still not sure why all rudeness as we didnt have any issues to leave or change tables if needed.
So yea, i can confirm like some comments did say that service lacks...
Read moreI don't understand the hype about this place, really. The server was fast, he was so quick that he didn't even wait for us to finish our order and as a result, we didn't get anything to drink during our meal here, not even water. He also bumped into me several times because I sat in the middle part. It's okay but it becomes annoying if it happens too often....
For the food, we only ordered cevapi. We waited a lot for it because I know that this place is famous for it. But we were so disappointed because it doesn't taste like anything but burnt meat. It doesn't have a complex flavor, either. Only salt. The bread is the only good thing about this food, because it has such a heavenly texture!
Nearing the end of our meal, we just realized that they didn't ask us for any sauce. We just saw the other table eating their cevapi with sauce, so we wondered if we could ask them or not. I tried to call the server sooo many times but he just didn't notice me, not even once. So I had to go to the kitchen and ask....
It was cheap with a big portion, but it wasn't worth the money with such a rushed and messy service, plus on top of that, burnt...
Read moreCentrally located right by the famous Dolac market, this unassuming little diner blew us away. Cevapi, while not necessarily invented in Croatia, is considered an iconic food there, and we were so excited to find this place!!
The cevapcici doesn’t look fancy on the plate - a flat bread, cut open, stuffed with little skin-less sausages with a huge heaping of chopped raw onion on the side - but oh my goodness… so juicy, tender, delicious flavours! And it was a huge serving too (10 pieces of cevapi - they had a smaller (half) serve available and I think that probably would’ve been plenty for me). We ordered a side of fries which were more like potato wedges or roasted potatoes - but super crispy and yummy, and came with a delicious dipping sauce which I enjoyed dipping my cevapi in as well.
My partner also had a burger which he said wasn’t anything to write home about, so skip that and stick with the tried and true classic. This was my favourite meal in Zagreb!
The only downside was that the service was a little slow (I think we came at the end of the lunch rush). But they did warn us before seating us, and it was worth the wait...
