I have to be honest, I was REALLY nervous about staying here with the negative reviews, but it was booked and we were two weeks out from departure. I am thankful I just went with it and now am unsure if the reviews are for the same place?
We booked through Capital One travel and the only additional fee we paid was a 6.10 Euro service fee that was to be left in cash on our departure. So the fees were clear and straightforward.
When we arrived, we were met with A LOT of stairs to climb up the street. Many places you stay in old town, are going to be up flights of stairs. We found out after the fact that there are porter companies you can call to manage your bags in and out of old town. Fellow travelers staying in the unit on the first floor told us the host/owner connected them with a company.
The room was simple and clean. We had a comfy bed, a couch, a small kitchenette with a fridge, sink, and flat top for cooking. We didn’t use anything but the sink. The bathroom was clean and had enough towels for our short stay. And the air conditioning was fantastic! We were in Dubrovnik during a heat wave and that was super important. The front door was locked our entire stay so our unit neighbors were obviously mindful about that.
The owner was very good to us. When we arrived, we called the number listed on the door and within a couple minutes, she called us back and gave us the combination to get our keys out of the lock box. The owner also allowed us to keep our luggage in the unit after checkout time, since we still had until 1pm to tour the city before leaving for the airport. She just asked we finish using the unit by the 10am checkout so the cleaners could prepare the unit for the next guest. That accommodation was a huge help to us.
Finally, if you still hesitant about booking this place, visit other travel and hotel websites and read the reviews there as well for...
Read moreWe stayed on the top-floor pad, called "Superior Deluxe Double or Twin Room," during our nearly week stay in Dubrovnik. The apartment is decorated in a really modern—think IKEA—style and it was spic-and-span clean. The bed was comfortable and the couch—while a little hard—makes for some nice lounging at the end of a long day. The best part about the room is probably the view over Old Town Dubrovnik (photos attached to the review). We'd throw open the window every morning to be greeted by orange roofs and church steeples spreading out before us for days. Really charming. There's also a nice sea breeze that comes in through the bathroom window when you open it. The location is great, on the older, sea side of town up several stairs from one of the main shopping drags. The popular Buza bar is really close. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here. ||||Being an attic apartment, the ceiling is severely slanted—especially on one side. You'll have to do a lot of hunching over around the bed and fridge area. It wasn't that big of a deal for us—though my husband, the clumsy thing he is, knocked his head on the wooden beams probably a dozen times. The bathroom is beautiful, with a slick, modern standalone tub, but some people may not like the fact that there's no curtain around it, so you can't take a proper standing shower. You basically have to sit in the tub to hose down, which wasn't as big of a deal as we thought it'd be. You get used to it. We thought the 10 a.m. checkout time was a little on the early side—and they wouldn't budge on it for even an extra hour—but that's sort of the way it goes all over...
Read moreThese apartments are located in the Old Town of Dubrovnik and are ideally placed to experience the history and culture contained within the city walls.||There are plenty of options for food nearby as well as souvenir / gift shops, ATMs and places to book excursions. Stradun (the Main Street in the Old Town) is a 30 second walk to the bottom of the stairs leading to the apartments.||If it weren’t for those stairs this would be a perfect place to stay as the rooms are well kept, clean, air conditioned and the rooms and bathrooms are modern and spacious. ||There are around 140 stairs to go to and from the apartment whenever you leave. Couple this with your luggage (and 35+ degree heat) and this would genuinely be impossible for some travelers. And where it isn’t impossible then it is sweaty and hard work just to go to and from your room. I’m not really sure there is a solution to this given the heritage of the city itself but it’s worth mentioning for those thinking of booking. It is the only potential negative about the property in my opinion though it didn’t really detract too much from our stay.||The only other minor con was that a wardrobe was placed in front of the air conditioning unit in the room which prevented the circulation of the air. Other than that, no problems and helpful staff at check in etc with...
