Rating: ★★★★★
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a 5-star hotel that truly epitomized elegance and sophistication. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was swept away by the grandeur of the surroundings and the warm welcome from the staff. This hotel went above and beyond my expectations, offering a remarkable experience that combined opulence with personalized service.
The hotel's ambiance exuded a timeless charm, with tasteful decor and meticulously designed interiors. The attention to detail was evident throughout the property, from the elegant furnishings to the beautiful artwork adorning the walls. Every corner seemed to exude an air of refined luxury, creating a serene and indulgent atmosphere for guests.
One of the standout features of this hotel was the impeccable service provided by the staff. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a delightful stay. From the concierge who went above and beyond to fulfill my requests to the waitstaff who provided flawless service at the on-site restaurants, every interaction was a testament to their commitment to excellence.
The owners of this hotel deserve special recognition for their personal touch and dedication to their guests. They were actively involved in the day-to-day operations, making an effort to greet guests and ensure their needs were met. This level of involvement created a unique sense of warmth and made me feel like a valued guest rather than just a room number. Their passion for hospitality was evident, and it translated into a truly exceptional experience.
The amenities offered by this hotel were second to none. The spa facilities were a haven of relaxation, with an extensive menu of treatments and skilled therapists who catered to every need. Additionally, the hotel's restaurants showcased culinary expertise, serving delectable dishes made from the finest ingredients, paired with an extensive selection of wines.
The location of the hotel was also ideal, situated in a prime area that offered easy access to local attractions and amenities. Whether I wanted to explore the city's cultural sites or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll in the nearby parks, everything was within convenient reach.
In conclusion, my stay at this 5-star hotel was an unforgettable experience that exceeded all expectations. The combination of elegance, remarkable service, and the personal touch of the owners created a truly luxurious and welcoming environment. From the moment I arrived until the moment I reluctantly departed, I was treated like royalty. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a refined and...
Read moreHotels kinda start out with four stars and go up or down from there.||How did I dislike this hotel? Let me count the ways.||First, the room is small. I get it that we’re in a hotel in the old city, but small is small. The bathroom is small too. Not terrible, but small. But no deduction.||Second, THERE ARE NO PLUGS AT THE DESK. This is totally unacceptable. There’s a plug three or four feet away. Luckily, I travel with a triple tap and a plug that allows me to charge multiple devices at once. I still had to move devices in and out. This lack of plugs is an automatic deduction of one full star. No usable plugs at the nightstands either. You have to unplug a lamp to free up a plug. USB ports? Don’t make me laugh. Internet was decent, however.||Third, the small desk is ¼ filled with a giant coffee maker (using one plug, by the way), but there’s really no place in the room to move it. There’s also a fridge that uses another plug. I was reluctant to unplug either, as the outlet looked weird.||Fourth, the air conditioner only seems to provide cold air. I could not adjust it to a higher temperature. Luckily, I could turn it off. If it provides heat at all, I was unable to adjust it for that purpose. Both the A/C and the bathroom fans took a long time (minutes) to shut off once you threw the switch. I wasn’t quite sure at first what was going on.||Fifth, I asked for a map and was offered a QR code. I don’t much trust QR codes and lived instead with the Apple Map on my phone. Never stayed in a hotel that didn’t have area maps.||Sixth, Breakfast? A fifth-floor walkup. Now to be fair, I knew that steps were required for this hotel, but five floors?||Seventh, it’s a very noisy hotel. Lots of internal noise, lots of external noise from restaurants and the like, and noise EVERYDAY at 6 a.m. from trash pickup. I still get it that we’re in the city, but the soundproofing is totally nonexistent.||Eighth, large decorative pillows on the bed, with no real place to store them. I just hate it that hotels put this dysfunctional crap in room for guests to deal with. Commonplace objection at many hotels.||Ninth, no hooks for hanging things in the bathroom. The only hooks were used by two bathrobes. In the end, I stuck the robes on the floor in a corner to free up the hooks.||Tenth, the shower worked okay, but it took me several minutes to discover that the knob was misadjusted and that you had to ignore the settings on the knob.||Everything wasn’t terrible. The location is fine, to say the least. Breakfast was okay, if you don’t mind the climb. Staff was friendly and helpful. If there was something else positive, I missed it.||I would not stay here again, despite the location. They are...
Read moreWe stayed here the first night of our trip and it was fine. The room wasn't quite as expected as we'd booked a private double room, and entered into a 4 bed dorm room but it wasn't an issue for us. ||The owner, Darko, was friendly enough but we had a bit of trouble locating the property or getting hold of him to help us find it. We were directed there by a waiter at a nearby restaurant.||There was a fusty smell in the room, I think because of lack of airflow to the bathroom but the room was otherwise fairly clean. I wasn't convinced that all of the bedding had been washed though.||||We were due to return for another two nights later in our trip but on the day, around lunchtime, received a call to say the room was no longer available. I asked why, as we had booked it 2 months beforehand and they had seen us just a few nights earlier and hadn't thought to mention a problem, they wouldn't provide me with an answer.||I was told we had two options, one was that we could stay at another property of theirs with the first night free but it would be outside of Old Town. And the other is that they would find us like for like accommodation within Old Town. We selected to stay in Old Town but I reiterated that our coach wasn't going to be arriving in Dubrovnik Terminal until 1am. They said if we called when we arrived at Old Town, they would meet us and show us to our new room. ||I received an email to confirm they had secured another room for us to stay. ||Our bus was late and there were no taxis around so we walked back to Old Town and then called to say we had arrived. Darko met us and then we were walked up about 200 odd steps to our apartment. He showed us our room and said the bathroom was upstairs and toilet downstairs, demanded payment and left. He charged us more, considering we had already paid a deposit and he was the one that messed up, we were not impressed but too tired to argue. We didn't get an apology, the property was not like for like, we didn't get a discount or even the same price and were actually charged more! I was also annoyed because it was up so many steps and it was off putting to keep going up and down them to go anywhere, it may as well have been outside of Old Town. Once back at our apartment after the first couple of ventures, I didn't feel like going out again!||Not a good experience. I wouldn't stay there anymore because I wouldn't be able to trust him to keep our booking. It was a stress we didn't want or need...
