Chops Grill left me very impressed. From the moment I stepped in, the exceptional service elevated my dining experience. The star of the evening was the perfectly cooked steak, and the truffle mashed potatoes were hands down the best I've ever tasted. To complete the meal, I paired it with a delicious local beer. Let's start with the food. The steak, cooked to perfection, showcased the chef's expertise and made for a mouthwatering experience. It was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, definitely a highlight of the evening. The truffle mashed potatoes were an absolute triumph, with just the right amount of truffle flavor to enhance the creamy goodness. These were some mashed potatoes worth savoring! The service at this steakhouse was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure my dining experience was top-notch. They were prompt in addressing any requests and went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. I appreciated their professionalism and friendly demeanor. Now, let's address the location. While the restaurant excels in many areas, its location is not its strongest suit. The venue might not offer breathtaking views or a highly convenient location. However, for me, the incredible steak and overall dining experience more than made up for this trade-off. In summary, if you're in search of a steak that will make your taste buds dance with joy and mashed potatoes that redefine excellence, this finer dining steakhouse is an excellent choice!

Absolutely Amazing experience last night! We tried going on a Fri night without reservations, as expected they were quite busy and we asked to make reservations for Sat night. I joked with the hostess on the spelling of my name, and we were set for 8pm Say night we arrive at 7:50, and as soon as we walk up the beautiful hostess remembered us (from the teasing of my name)! Seriously I was shocked! I’m sure they have hundreds come thru every night, and that started off the night great! We were promptly seated, and were being attended to by Ante. I ordered the Ribeye aged in Whiskey for 100 days, and my wife had the Filet Mignon. For sides we had the buttered rice and baked potatoes. Ante brought over a listing of the Ribeyes aged that were available by size, and I selected one. We asked for a bottle of wine, and Ante paired it with a fantastic Red Croatian! The steaks were AMAZING!!! Perfectly cooked, the Ribeye aged in Whiskey was AMAZING!!! Filet Mignon, FANTASTIC! We did enjoy the Buttered Rice better then the potatoes... it was like a creamy risotto - Yum! We finished with a dessert, a warm and fantastic lil pie! We didn’t even tell Ante that we were celebrating our anniversary or that it was our last night in Croatia, but our experience here truly made our last night here!!! Thank you to the hostess, Ante, and all the great service here! Truly memorable

Based on a recommendation from the hotel’s concierge and the need to feed my inner carnivore we decided to try our luck at Chops. We hadn’t made a reservation so the maître de advised that there was a 30-40min wait and that we could either have a drink at the bar or wander the streets of Split waiting for her call. We opted for drinks, which were well made and reasonably priced. After about 10mins we were told there’d be a cancellation and ushered to our table. Our waiter was so congenial and welcoming, eager to help us out when we needed. We had entrees of cauliflower soup (cream of cauliflower, pancetta, grapefruit oil); and scallops with pancetta . The scallops were delicious and so succulent. For our mains, we went with the Chops' duet (Beef tenderloin and sirloin, veal striploin, chicken) with chimichurri; and baked potatoes with truffle sauce, pancetta and parsley. The char on the meat was devine, perfectly cooked and seasoned. We could have done with more chimichurri sauce & it was a bit oily for my taste but only a minor blemish. We washed that down with a smooth mellow red from the island of Hvar, based on our waiter’s recommendation. After those two courses I felt so full in a happy meat coma way - no room for dessert. Thoroughly recommend Chops Grill Steak & Seafood- the grilled meats here are prepared and served for your inner carnivore.

Really, really sad to leave this review. There are so many excellent reviews for this place and we were so hopeful. The service was great, the wine was great, the ceasar salad was great, lava cake was great, the truffle mashed potatoes were ok. Entrees were so horrible we couldn’t even bring ourselves to speak with the server. When he asked how the food was I replied with a stern and sad “ok” and he didn’t ask anything further. My friend ordered the filet wellington. Her meat was very red on the inside, incredibly tough and nearly impossible to chew. Undercooked. Bad piece of beef for an expensive price. It had no flavor, wasn’t seasoned at all. I had the salmon. The salmon was so undercooked and cold that I couldn’t even eat it. I picked at the edges that were a bit cooked and left the rest on the plate. There was zero seasoning on the salmon or the broccoli that came with it. Tasted like they were boiled in water and put on a bed of flavorless mayo. There was a “brown butter” sauce that tasted more like bland and liquid mayonnaise than any kind of butter sauce. There was a bit of caviar that were okay, but they didn’t do any favors to the senseless combination on my plate. I tried to salvage my dish with salt and pepper but it didn’t help at all. Worst meal I’ve ever had. For €215 bill, I not only expect better, but it must at least be edible.

Everything about this place is exceptional! We arrived without a reservation and no table was available, but the hostesses at the reception (who are super friendly, well organized, customer-oriented and professional) put us on a waiting list and made sure that we still had a great time while we waited. So they sat us at the bar where we met the incredibly friendly and talented bartender, Alina. Alina prepared for us a delicious Daiquiri and the hands-down best Amaretto Sour I've ever had. I actually had to repeat because it was so good. I don't think I can ever drink an Amaretto Sour anywhere else, because I would always compare it to Alina's Amaretto Sour and it wouldn't even get close. :-) After a couple of minutes the hostess sat us at a free table and we ordered food. I have no words for the food, except that it was heaven! I ordered the tuna steak and potatoes with truffle sauce, pancetta and parsley. I get hungry again by just thinking about it. It was that good! And don't even get me started about the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was just out of this world. Also our waiter, Antonio, was incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. So we loved everything about this place and will recommend it to everyone. Thank you for this amazing experience!

Phenomenal all around. I can not recommend this place enough. My wife and I arrived with no reservation. No problem. The hostess looked for a bit, reconfigured, and created a table for two for us. Before dinner I had a local white wine and my wife a French 75. I had the wagyu (€85 for 150g/5.3pm!!) that was perfect. Added three wonderfully cooked scallops. My wife had the tenderloin with chimichurri and a side of black truffle potatoes. Delicious. Before dinner arrive I asked for a Hvar Hills red which paired well. After, I asked our waiter, Vjeko, for the wine list. He brought it and then took it away saying, “I’m going to bring you something you’ll like but I’m not going to tell you what it is.” It was delicious. A Matusko Dignač Royal from 2008. Absolutely phenomenal. I ended up getting a second glass later. In the meantime we talked with Vjeko all evening about his 64 Chevy Bel Air, his Harley Davidson he’d imported from Houston, TX, his small village outside Split and family, about the history of Croatia and the civil war that raged in the 1990s. All in all, this was a perfect night. Phenomenal food, great company, delicious wine, meeting new people and learning their stories while they shared new experiences with us.
