It was a big surprise!
I thought long and hard about whether to write this review. I had already made up my mind about whether I would consider staying at this hotel again for my next holiday in Cyprus. However, if I had read this information beforehand, I would have made a different decision. For this reason, I have now decided to write this review after all. I would be very glad if my information would help in any way. Please note that this is my perception and it may be that many disagree with this point of view. That's fine, but in this case, justifications or counterarguments are not relevant.
Hotel staff The friendliness at the hotel reception is exemplary. Guests are given a warm welcome, and requests are handled in a friendly and competent manner. Excellent! Unfortunately, I must also mention that the friendliness of the other staff members is somewhat limited. I don't mean to say that the staff are unfriendly. That is not the case. But! Rarely have I experienced such emotionless and unmotivated work in a hotel. It felt like I was being served by robots. This kind of behavior affects me personally. Yes, I paid for this service, but I still want to express my appreciation for the services of the hotel staff in the form of a greeting or gratitude. Just because I paid does not mean that everything should be taken for granted. The hotel staff responded to my expressions of appreciation in very few cases. In most situations, I was completely ignored.
Cleanliness / Rules We also really appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel. This is very well done in this hotel. We don't often see hotel room floors being wet and cleaned every day. Excellent!
I still believe that good manners are not a cultural topic. I have rarely experienced such chaos in the dining room. It was hectic, there was no respect from the other guests, people were eating standing at the bar and it didn't matter that other guests were waiting in line and wanted to get something. Very often, I even saw children touching the food with their hands and putting it back. It was also obvious that many parents had failed in their parenting. At this point, at the latest, I expect the hotel management to react and ensure some discipline. However, the staff behind the counter watched impassively and rarely reacted to such misbehavior. After this observation, I only took the food with great discomfort.
Scope of services / infrastructure One of the main reasons for choosing an ‘all-inclusive’ option is that I don't have to carry my wallet with me and therefore don't have to worry about theft, etc. Yes, this is a controversial topic, but for me, the term ‘all-inclusive’ means that everything is included. Unfortunately, this is not the case at this hotel, which was very disappointing. I must also mention that there is nothing Greek about this hotel. It is very obvious that this hotel is only designed for two target groups. Europeans are not included. This hotel could just as well have been outside Greece; internally, it would have made no difference. The hotel does not really have a beach. Although there is an area designated for this purpose, it would be untrue to call it a beach. On the other hand, the infrastructure for children at this hotel is very good. There is a water park and several smaller play areas. My children (aged 3 and 7) had a lot of fun!
Summary If you are looking for a hotel where you can eat and drink to your heart's content and where etiquette is not very important to you, then this hotel is highly recommended. Here, you can let your children run around everywhere and, no matter how they behave, you don't have to worry about any consequences. However, if you want to experience Greek charm in the service or the food, then I cannot recommend this hotel with complete confidence. Even if you want to spend your holiday in a pleasant atmosphere and leave the stress of everyday life behind, this hotel is not recommended. This hotel is not suitable for us, and we will not consider it for our next...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a relaxing, clean and friendly 4-star hotel – keep looking. This place was an absolute disgrace from start to finish.||||From the moment we arrived, it was clear customer service wasn’t on the agenda. No greeting, no offer of help with luggage, no welcome drink – just miserable faces and staff who looked like they’d rather be anywhere else. The reps were no better – not a smile, not a “hello”, nothing.||||Then came the room… filthy, run down, and about as far from 4-star quality as you could get (see attached photos). The bed sheets were dirty – and when we complained, they changed them for more dirty ones. Incredible! The staff’s attitude? Rude, unhelpful, and totally uninterested. I eventually had to raise a formal complaint through the TUI app before anyone even pretended to care. Only then were we moved rooms – but not until the following day, and only after I’d said we wanted to leave and fly home. The “new” room we were shown had just been vacated by previous guests, and it showed – grime, smell, and all.||||The food? A culinary mystery. Random dishes that made no sense together and gave four out of seven of us indigestion every single night. Definitely not what you’d expect from a supposed Cypriot four-star resort.||||Please note: “All Inclusive” does not mean all inclusive at this resort. Be prepared to pay extra for cocktails, anything that isn’t bottom-shelf alcohol, milkshakes, bottled water or even milk. And if you need anything from the on-site shop – don’t bother! Prices are three to four times higher than anywhere else. Even basic items like chocolate are extortionate. Do yourself a favour: catch a bus into the centre and buy what you need from there instead.||||As for the atmosphere – don’t expect service with a smile, or any service at all really. Most staff look completely miserable and can’t be bothered. The evening entertainment was laughable – literally. One poor man dressed up in different costumes each night, belting out songs and trying (badly) to carry the show on his own. Cringe doesn’t even cover it.||||The clientele left a lot to be desired too – drunken, loud, foul-mouthed guests shouting and swearing in front of children all day and night. We were even woken several times during our week by fights outside our room. One particularly awful night, a drunken couple — who had been placed directly next to our room, despite us being a family with two small children — spent over an hour screaming, swearing and physically fighting outside our door at 1am. My children were terrified, and we had to call security to deal with it. To make matters worse, the night before that, we were woken again by some drunken idiot repeatedly trying to use their key card on our door, attempting to gain access to our room.||||Thankfully, Cyprus itself is beautiful, and we made the best of it by getting out of the hotel as much as possible. If it weren’t for that, we would have flown home early.||||And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse – it did. Our return transfer was late, the driver rude and grumpy, refusing to help elderly passengers with their luggage. He even set off before everyone was seated, nearly causing an accident. The flight home? No food. Not even a cold sandwich. Everything had “sold out.” My 6-year-old ended up crying from hunger and exhaustion, as we didn’t manage to get food until 11:30pm – a full 10 hours after leaving the hotel.||||This whole experience was beyond disappointing – it was embarrassing. TUI should be ashamed to advertise this as a 4-star resort. We’ve travelled with TUI many times, but after this absolute shambles of a holiday, we’ve decided to cancel our next trip with them.||||If you value your sanity, your sleep, and your stomach – book...
Read moreWe enjoyed a lovely stay at the Leonardo Laura for 7 nights, brilliant vacation and a lovely time in general. We did venture out of the hotel a fair bit and your missing out if you don’t! Paphos is lovely especially the old town (615 - 611 bus or €15 taxi) market area (615 Bus) also good but less too do.
We stayed all inclusive which is brilliant as you get to enjoy free drinks all day snacks - which include kebabs and pizzas and are just brilliant! 10/10 on snacks, burgers and hotdogs ok too.
And a selection of three a la carte meals. To be honest the burger house is below average for a burger, I’d recommend saving your booking for somewhere else, and Z’atar Lebanese is the best of all them brilliant food and authentic atmosphere / feel - it’s hidden behind the buffet restaurant so make sure to book it! Greek restaurant also good (transformed pool bar) both serve meze food to a high quality- if you have kids that don’t like the food you can still visit the buffet afterwards.
The buffets are good especially Greek night with BBQ food. They have good constantly refreshed variety of food salad is excellent. Pick more local stuff like baklava or Cyprus delight for dessert as the non local stuff can be disappointing.
All inclusive ends at 11pm, and then drinks are chargeable - if you just want somewhere to sit and drink end across the road to KIOSK 😉 where drinks are 3x cheaper we felt safe sitting outside until past 1am and it’s a nice view. Additionally watch out because all inclusive doesn’t include certain things (milkshakes, smoothies) checkout the menu in reception for more details. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your drinks.
Entertainment was as to be expected, entertaining because it is awful (half the time) but that’s ok because when it’s bad it’s funny, but some nights where very good. Also miny disco is on every night.
Euphoria night club was kind of cool but so empty usually that the atmosphere was missing - great DJ and Karaoke night was good (half the singers better than the entertainment)
Gym was also good with a small variety of equipment but just enough for a full body workout it’s quiet so easy enough (smith machine, pull up assist machine, cardio stuff, dumbbells)
Ping pong tables (€10 cash deposit) and pool table available - often busy… also a football table and various arcade machines along with a teens club which had multiple PS5s with various free games to play.
Hotel shop is overpriced - go to KIOSK 😉 across the road for better prices on most things and if you need more suncream and you probably will go to LIDL (615 bus) take a taxi if you need as it’s a saving of €15 a bottle!
Check in was easy and we where offered help with our bags to the room.
Pools where nice but very chlorinated, they allow inflatables which is cool and lifeguards are good and take care to keep things safe. The water park is also nice the slides are all safe, fun and of a high quality - follow instructions of staff to have a good time.
Rooms where good, wouldn’t want to be on a higher level as lifts up there took forever.
Toilets and changing areas where clean and comfortable.
Things the hotel should improve - claims to have strong environmental policies but uses a lot of single use cups. Beds in rooms shouldn’t be sofa beds if possible. Outside the hotel from the beach front the signs are broken and worn and should be refreshed or replaced to make the hotel look nicer. You also could do with pool chalk and more than one table as it’s gets busy and there is the space for it.TAKE NOTE LEONARDO!
Overall would return - but we never stay the same...
