Yesterday, my husband and I planned to visit "Barakas" cafe lounge with two of our friends, totaling four adults, a five-year-old, and a baby with a stroller. The day before, I called to inquire about booking a table, but was informed that they do not accept reservations. I emphasised the importance of ensuring seating availability, to which they reassured me that there would be no issue accommodating us.
Upon arriving at 10 o'clock, we found the café nearly empty. A waiter wanted to seat us at a small square table, only suitable for four chairs. When we requested a larger table to accommodate our group, another waitress rudely intervened, stating it was not allowed and we should sit at the small table instead. She then said '' if you don't like it you can speak with the manager''. I agreed and I asked her to call the manager who eventually arrived.
I explained that despite being informed that no bookings were accepted, the table offered was inadequate for our group. The manager cited the 3- day holiday period as justification for prioritizing larger tables for more guests that are probably going to attend . The manager then asked us if we are planning to dine or just drink something. Even though i believe this is irrelevant i told him that yes our intention is to dine, the manager insisted we sit at the small table, disregarding our inability to fit five people. Just trying to find justification to basically cover up the rudeness of his waitress and reasons why we shouldn't sit on a normal table.
Feeling frustrated, we ultimately left with our two friends who had just arrived. Despite mentioning my intention to leave a review, the manager displayed indifference, merely stating, "write whatever you want." This experience was particularly disappointing as a local resident of Cyprus and frequent customer of Cypriot cafes.
The behavior of the staff and manager was unacceptable and incomprehensible. While I cannot comment on the quality of the food, the beautiful view and location are overshadowed by the poor service. Even the presence of a lovely park for children to play is irrelevant if the overall experience is ruined by such behavior.
We will never return for sure and we urge others to avoid "Barakas" lounge if they seek an enjoyable outing. Our experience was not only disappointing but also reflects poorly on the establishment's reputation. It is evident that the staff's behavior is influenced by the manager, resulting in a lack of...

Read moreWe used to really enjoy coming to Baracas Lounge – it was always a beautiful place and we felt welcome here. Unfortunately, we had a very unpleasant experience just two days ago that completely changed our view.
Our children were playing on the playground and had picked a few little flowers. They also took some sugar from the restaurant to feed ants and other small animals – something innocent and educational.
Suddenly, the manager or owner of Baracas stormed over to our table and started shouting at us – quite literally yelling at the adults, asking why the children were picking flowers and spreading sugar. Then, to our disbelief, he went over to the children, ripped some sugar beets out of their hands and yelled at them too. One of the girls, a friend’s daughter, was so scared that she started crying.
We absolutely understand if someone wants to bring something to our attention, but shouting at guests – especially at children – is completely unacceptable. That is not how you treat people.
The manager’s behavior was totally out of line and honestly disgraceful. We're deeply disappointed – this used to be one of our favorite spots, but after this experience, we won’t...
