Flamingo Beach Hotel Larnaka — Hotel in Larnaca

Dirty room no properly cleaned for days. No clean towels, every other day, like they claim, dirty mattress, filthy curtains with brown hand stains on them, damaged furniture, rust in bath and sink, woodwork swollen falling apart and bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly it was so swollen. No air vent in toilet. Filthy! Very poor cheap breakfast, the balcony was falling apart. We stayed 10 days so they literally stopped listening to our complaints even turning it round as if we are stupid and that’s how the Russian receptionists made us feel. Very rude and unprofessional. They left us without face towels for 4 days they even tried to say that I’m lying. I said we haven’t had a face towel for 4 days their reply was you only get one! I said but you don’t even bring us one to share! They question everything you complain about. I had to get serviettes from the restaurant to wipe my face after washing and dried my hair with a body towel. They even questioned us running out of toilet roll. Luckily she had one left behind reception. The shower gel was empty too so I had to leave the pump out on sink so they will refill it. I mean these are essential things. Sometimes we walk in after room clean to find sand and crumps still on the floor and the bedding just pulled up instead of being properly done. It’s very clear that they don’t care about the long stay customers as they make their money on one night stays as the airport is so close by. We couldn’t even use the balcony as the aircon unit which was rusty took most of the space and blowing hot air. The balcony rail was snapped and rusty screws were pointing upwards. Also they lie on every brochure that there’s a rooftop pool when in reality they pool was shut more than 5 years ago due to the building being unsafe. It needs a proper inspection and should be taken off every site on the internet. It wasn’t the cheapest hotel either so basically they just get away with ripping innocent people off so why not sort of speak. A total and utter disgrace of a hotel very third world vibes and unfriendly staff apart from one young guy who was very helpful...

I saw a couple of negative reviews here so I thought I might say a couple of words about my experiences. To begin with, all the people who want to pay this amount of money for a Hotell that is situated just in front of the beach, 4 min drive from the airport, 10 min walk from the city center and (!) just a walk away from the most beautiful attraction in Cyprus ever - the flamingo lake - and expect to see Grand Hotell standard can look somewhere else. I am sure they will not find anything. There is another hotel that offers all I have just mentioned and that little extra that we all expect from a Hotell but where you need to pay for one night what I have paid for the whole week. So the choice is yours. But if the purpose of your visit is not to sit in your room24-7 and you would rather spend your money on sightseeing that is just around the corner, shopping that is also just around the corner and Tavernas that are a short walk away (I would definitely recommend Psarolimano by the way), then you have found the right place. The view is really excellent (I provide some recent pictures) and the personal is wonderful. The guy who serves on the beach and at the restaurant is just an experience you do not want to live without. If you don’t like breakfast (I saw it was rather basic so I did not try it) choose something else - there are plenty alternatives around or just make your own oatmeal at your room and enjoy your breakfast from the balcony. If you do not have a kettle just ask for it. There is a convenience store nearby where you can buy all you need. There is a refrigerator in the room as well. If you book with Expedia and absolutely want to be sure that your reservation is there just call the Hotell before you come and get sure everything is ok. The hotel must have been very nice in the past, like the old pictures show. Unfortuantely the whole hotel is scrup now, nobody takes care for it and my impression was the staff gave it up as well. Once we complained, everyone agreed on our statements. We stayed just one of the three nights we booked originally and also the one night just because we had to, as we arrived late. What is offened and advertised online is totally different from what you get indeed.

Our "Top 3" disappointments:

About 15 hairs in the bed, before we even entered it, so must come from other persons. Overall, cleaning is not priority in the hotel anymore, I could give many examples..

Pool area and rooftop bar on the 5th floor are a ruin and not accessible anymore anyway. But it is not mentioned anywhere when you book the hotel and see the nice pictures of the rooftop and pool.

The bathroom, the furniture, the beds, all equipment either broken or very old. So the mattress let you feel any spring f.e. I just hope we didn't catch any bed-bugs or something like that.

We had a look on the breakfast, I have to say it is not making it better. Just one aspect added, coffee and tea water comes out of the same way. My tea water was already with the colour of coffee, so no tee for me that morning.

Basically, I find it scary that the hotel is still offen or at least that there is no indication about it. Of course for the pice it is not high luxury, but still I see it...
