As soon as the airport taxi van pulled up to the curb outside Hotel Indigo in Larnaca’s Old Town and I saw the hotel’s beautiful facade, I had a feeling that I’d made the right choice.

While the hotel’s exterior looks somewhat aesthetically connected to the neighborhood in regards to architectural style and color scheme, once I entered the lobby, there was very little that subsequently reminded me that I was in Cypress.

Hotel Indigo is a highly conceptualized yet still tastefully designed boutique hotel. It could literally be located anywhere in the world. In fact, I’ve actually stayed a few nights at a Hotel Indigo in Bangkok (Thailand) with similar interior decor and facilities.

Though my room's (104) balcony didn’t offer a particularly interesting view, the property is located in Larnaca’s charming albeit partially crumbly old town. So the 360 views from the hotel’s lovely rooftop pool were all the more impressive. Especially the stunning view of the Mediterranean a few blocks beyond.

Upon my arrival, I soon discovered that this former British colony has the same archaic wall socket connectors as in the UK. So, I kindly asked the receptionist if she could help me with an adapter.

Instead of trying to locate one for me, she suggested that I find a store in town the following day (a Sunday) where they sell adapters. Why the hotel doesn't have a few adapters in a drawer is a mystery...

I found most of the staff at Hotel Indigo to be extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Especially in the restaurant where an exceptionally service-minded team promptly and elegantly served delicious coffee and a very nicely presented and thoroughly tasty a la carte breakfast.

The hotel’s housekeeping staff did a really good job of making up our room and they were always smiling and friendly whenever we interacted.

The front desk staff was also friendly... but when we politely asked to checkout at 1:00 pm, i.e. an hour later than what their 11:00 am policy dictates (we had a late afternoon flight back to Europe), the young woman on duty said that the hotel was fully booked and that it was not possible to provide us with an extra hour.

It typically takes 20-30 minutes to clean a room of the (small) size we stayed in. Since checkin time is 3:00 pm, that would have given housekeeping almost 2 hours to clean our room before the next guest(s) arrived.

I stay at 25-30 different hotels every year and 95% of them offer an extra hour without discussion (or, pointing out a silly, inflexible policy).

Also, as I was waiting in the lobby for my airport taxi at about 1:00 pm, a few other guests were clearly checking out. Why I was discriminated and not allowed to enjoy the same checkout time is another mystery.

All said, I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Indigo in Larnaca. It’s located in a relatively quiet part of Old Town, the breakfast is really, really good and the rooftop pool and poolbar is fabulous.

So, if you don’t need to stay on the beach (which is super busy and not really much to write home about), Hotel Indigo is a superb choice.

With the exception of a minuscule gym and my somewhat disappointing encounters with the front desk staff, I had a nice guest experience.

Hotel Indigo is definitely...

A charming Boutique hotel in the center of Larnaca.

Location - In the center of town, 5 minutes walk to the beach, just outside the commotion of the center. I saw some reviews mentioning the "sketchy" neighborhood, it's not, this is how the center of Larnaca looks like. it's a great zone. its also right next to the bus station to and from the airport (15 minutes ride). Design - the design is very cool, from the colorful facade and the relaxing restaurant to the dial phone in the room. Staff - Did not have a lot of contact with them but they were always pleasant and efficient. The room - A little on the small side, especially the toilet/bathroom area but all rooms are facing the sea direction, and have a nice balcony to sit on. bed is comfy. breakfast - great coffee, nice buffet and an a la cart option, all included in your room price. didn't have dinner but the restaurant and bar seems popular. I did not see an option for room service (other than breakfast). Quiet - as this hotel is a little further away from the "first line to the sea" and also an adult only hotel it's quiet, and great for people needing that to sleep soundly. lastly there is a nice little pool on the 5th floor roof and a tiny gym room on the lobby floor.

Its not the cheapest option in the area but seems to be one of the nicest one....

Small hotel within a 10 minute drive from the airport and a 10 minute walk to the beach and restaurants. Adults only.||Taxi from the airport was 20 euros, they accept credit cards. The area around the hotel is weird, not what you expect. The lady at the front desk was busy, she checked us in and said to return if we have questions.||Room was small with not much space between the edge of the bed and the desk. Rain shower head is nice but it was hard to pull the lever to operate it. Towels in the bathroom had seen better days. USB port by the bed did not work well. You receive 2 bottles of water and there is a mini fridge and a nespresso machine.||Town was around a 10 minute walk. Apparently Cyprus is very safe so although the area around the hotel may have been considered seedy elsewhere it is presumably safe here. We ate dinner at Ocean Basket by the beach, food was ok, but not the best.||The hotel arranged a limo service to pick us up early in the morning. The taxi arrived on time and it was 23 euros.||Overall we had a pleasant stay. We only stayed one night so I don’t have as much to share. I had high expectations due to the great reviews, but I was not wowed. We left too early for breakfast so I can’t share...

A great all around hotel. My mother stayed at the Indigo for 9 days. The service was amazing from all members of staff with great attention to detail. As a Guest Relations professional in the hotel industry here in Cyprus all team members know how to do hospitality to an excellent standard, something which is hard to come-by these days. A special mention for Elena who stopped by and chatted with us daily. Also Valaira and Nikoltta were great at the hotel too. The breakfast was great, coffee was amazing both decafe and standard coffee ( I am quite fussy with coffee!) I had brunch at the hotel and had the avocado, smoked salmon with poached eggs. This was amazing the best brunch I’ve had in Laranca. The hotel were great at accommodating my gluten free preference. They have the best gluten free bread roles I’ve found in Cyprus! I also ate dinner at the hotel and had the salmon as a main course, which came with a generous portion and was delicious! The vibe was amazing, nice quaint, peaceful, quiet, relaxing and enjoyable. Living in Cyprus I will for sure be visiting for for brunch and dinner. Thank you once again. Best regards , Lloyd
