Hotel Merlin — Hotel in Prague

We booked this hotel for 4 nights but we’ve changed it after only 2. ||It was our university trip to Prague and I had a quite bad experience! After the first night, I had few itchy red marks on my chest but I didn’t pay much attention on it, I thought that might be bites of some strange mosquitos or something. The second night was even worse: I woke up at 2 a.m. because of the strong burning kind of pain on my arm. It was all red (few hours later the red marks appeared). I checked my bed and the wall but in the nighttime I couldn’t find anything . It felt like something really small is biting me late in the night and it’s seems like I’m allergic to it (never happened to me before).||The next day I told what happened to me to the reception workers, they seemed to be shocked and promised me to clean up all the room , change all the laundry, and check the bed. But unfortunately when I came back to the room in the evening, none of laundry was changed, the room was barely cleaned, and with the old towels we’ve had from two days. ||The same day I found out to have more red marks on my body that was itching (on my legs, neck) and unfortunately, we still don’t know what it was! But I think it was in the bed and it was there probably because of the poor hygiene conditions of this place… ||I said I won’t stay in that room one more night, they didn’t have another available one, and so the travel agency found us another hotel to stay (and I actually stayed well from then).||I was with other 3 person in the room and it’s true that none of them had same thing as I did. The doctor told me after that I’m probably allergic to those insects/parasites and gave me antihistamine (after two weeks only the red marks are almost disappeared).||||Well, that was a number 1 minus.||Other CONs : breakfast is one of the worst (they give you a lemon taste water instead of orange juice and beetroot instead of fresh fruits). Elevator stops between the floors, but it doesn’t matter so much to me. The place and the building is quite old and kind of “soviet”, it’s not a typical hotel but a part of an old residence house. No air conditioner. ||PROs : position, our room was quite spacious and bright, the bathroom seemed to be clean.||||For me it was a horrible experience and be aware next time about all this...

Di solito non scrivo recensioni negative anche se in passato ho avuto esperienze del genere ma in questo caso si é oltre-passato il colmo ! Inizio ....prenoto l´albergo per quattro giorni di vacanza a Praga . durante la prenotazione leggo che cé anche il parcheggio, sorpresa il parcheggio cé ma e sulla strada e a pagamento , 27 euro per quattro giorni ! Arrivo e non ho trovato la ricezione, infatti non esiste una vera recezione , devi suonare un campanello e poi con le comodità sue ti viene ad aprire il dipendente di turno quasi infastidito e che ogni volta inventa scuse di vario genere tipo stavo mangiando o ero al bagno ! Per due volte siamo entrati dall´entrata del ristorante adiacente all´albergo ringraziando il proprietario ! Sempre riguardo la ricezione , appena arrivati abbiano trovato un tipo che ci subito messo sull´attenti dicendo quello che tutto che non potevamo fare e in modo poco gentile ! Non aspettavamo il tappeto rosso ma almeno una domanda di rito tipo come é andato il viaggio o siamo felici di ospitarvi ! niente del genere ! Andiamo avanti ! La nostra camera era all´ultimo piano dell´albergo ! In effetti lo stabile aveva poco di albergo : Era uno stabile di quasi 100anni che poi nel tempo e´stato modificato come albergo , infatti mostrava tutti i segni del tempo ! La nostra stanza , una mansarda mal messa con pavimento in legno datato e sporco, battiscopa mancanti e polvere dapertutto ! televisione datata e non funzionante frigorifero la cui portiera era rotta, senza climatizzatore e con un ventilatore rumoroso ! Il bagno da orrore ! Lo abbiamo trovato sporco con residui dei vecchi clienti, doccia sporca e stretta e con il gocciolatore guasto , mancanza di tappeti sul pavimento ! L´unica nota positiva erano le tovaglie per asciugarsi ! Mia moglie il giorno dopo e´andata alla ricezione per esporre tutta la sua rabbia e per tutta risposta il dipendente ha detto che le pulizie vengono fatte ogni due-tre giorni cosi come il cambio delle lenzuola ! Mai sentita una cosa del genere !!!! Abbiamo desistito dall´andarcene prima perché non avremmo trovato altro . Non mi dilungo , il tutto ci é costato 320 euro tre notti senza colazione ! La colazione costa 5 euro a persona ma abbiamo desistito , nel centro di Praga abbiamo trovato un bar stile italiano , cornetto e caffè 2 euro a persona ! Di positivo cé solo il ristorante adiacente dove abbiamo mangiato bene ! Ultima considerazione , questo era per me il terzo viaggio a Praga ! Ci sono stato come studente per una settimana nel 1985 ! Altri tempi , allora con 100 marchi ( 90-000lire )siamo stai ospiti nel centro di Praga in un albergo di Stato molto lussuoso ! Ci sono tornato nel 2002 e la differenza si vedeva a vista d´occhio , caduto il comunismo era arrivata l´invasione di massa di turisti portando benessere per pochi e disagi per molti ! Adesso ancora peggio ! Scusatemi per la mia grammatica ma vivo in Germania da molti anni e il mio italiano lascia un po a...

Staff at reception were really nice, so too was the joining mexiacan croation restaurant. Location wise is great amd you can enjoy a short walk along the river to the main tourist attractions. What let it down for me was that for some reason our roons were not made and towels changed, also no heating in our room (outside was minus 2). Bed covers are tiny even in a double you get to single covers. Heating wasnt working, seems like air was in the system but no radiator key to bleed it out so had to sleep fully clothed. Friends riom was way better and bigger amd heating worked. So beimg quite kind giving it a 3 star all thimgs considered but what helped was the staff being friendly amd helpful where they can and feel like giving them the benefit...
