We have been a large group and the restaurant was already rather filled. Therefore, we were given the large table downstairs. The room, as well as the table could, at best, be described as practical, but not beautiful. Adding to this, it was on the other side of the kitchen, which will be of relevance later.
We arrived in two groups. For the first group it took more than 15 min to order an get drinks, which is okay. The food we got was fine, but definitely not great, and it already seemed the service was overwhelmed.
As the second group arrived it took at least 30 mins to get the drinks and order the food. Keep in mind this was for 5 people. When ordering the server told us the food takes at least 40 to 50min, as they are having issues with blackouts. During our stay, in total there were two blackouts. We were in no hurry so we agreed and continued to order. After about 90 min (!) the server came back, „just to make sure what we ordered“. Not quite reassuring to say the least. We waited another 15 min and then asked were the food was, given that there were no noise coming from the kitchen. He assured us it would arrive any minute. It didn‘t. I asked the server whether the food was coming or we would leave. Maybe it was the language barrier, but he seemed not to care. After about 5-10 additional minutes, another one of our group asked regarding the food. The server said:“do you want to leave“. That‘s what we then proceeded to do.
Never has it happed to me before that i waited so long and didn‘t receive the food. Some of this was certainly due to the blackouts and a potential loss of our orders in the system. Additionally, we think the cook left the kitchen at some point and therefore no one was able to cook for us. However we were very patient and nice for at least two hours. But the neglectfullness in combination with no communication regarding the server is unprecedented and an...
Read moreI had dinner on September 20, 2024. There were not many guests at friday about 3 p.m. and the climat was quite nice. But we have been waiting guite long for our dinner dishes, about 20 -25 minutes and they were cool, we ate traditional Strapacky and grilled chicken breast with fries. So potato gnocchi were cool and fries also, meet was also cool and dry. The beer was very good- barrel beer. There is no polish menu, only Czech, english and russian (sic!). I paid about 900 Czech crown. The waiter was very nice and friendly.
Advocem to the comment of the Restaurant. If the restaurant doesn't know how to make easy and fast dish like dumplings ang fried fries and grilled chicken breast , it should informs client about the longer time of preparing or it should remove dish from menu. These are the rules of good and best restaurants. I think that maybe Pols are not well welcomed clients in this restaurant ?? Before me there were only 3 women who ordered coffe and cakes, so the Cooks and chef had plenty of time to cook dishes - very easy and fast, for me and my family. It's so funny to read so rude comment of the restaurant. It was my first time im Praha and I will never come to this restaurant for sure! I invite You to Warsaw and You will see how the best restaurants work. And such dishes like fries with grilled breast are done in 20-25 minutes and It is normal for sure. 5 Because I am suprised such comment, I change my opinion to one star, but I should give zero but it's not possibile. I understand that if You can not prepare grilled breast in 20 minutes do You serve IT...

We went here 2 times on our visit and the ambience and hospitality were so great! The Goulash, this time, was amazingly good. The schnitzel was astonishing. Warm and friendly service again. We were impressed by the comforting ambience; nothing fancy, but in the core so good and welcoming!!
The jokes and great laughs of the owners and their service made us to come back 2 days later, and they just were lovely every time. We love this restaurant; simple, yet so effective and warm. Great food. 5 stars, all day long!

I went for local food on my stay in Prague. Just simple. Matejicku was just that. I wouldn't come for fine dining, but I absolutely would for ambience. Wooden tables and chairs, the elderly pair coming in to eat next to me, local hospitality.. These are things that make a visit.
I was alone, got (how couldn't I?) the beef goulash with a cucumber salad. I wasn't into alcohol yet, so the Kofola was really tasty! The Goulash unfortunately had a few inedible pieces of meat (reeally chewy).
All in all, not touristy, no fine dining, but, just good food at a fair price with great local staff. A warm little...
