Not really a café, more like an apartment where you enter for an entrance fee and have access to several rooms, with the possibility to play board games, Xbox, use the kitchen for unlimited tea and coffee, while enjoying the company of cats. It sounds like a great concept - on paper. The realization come off as disorganized, awkward and borderline scammy. And it's none of the cats' fault!
The entrance fee for 1 person is 120czk for the first hour and 1czk for every additional minute. You just take off your shoes and put on the slippers available for guests, and you're free to access the rest of the place. I didn't have such a good experience because first of all, the strong smell was quite unsettling, overall the place doesn't feel clean. Second thing is that you are basically paying to make your own drinks, working with what is available. We stayed a little under 1 hour, the tea box was empty when I arrived and it remained so until I left. The biscuits were extremely basic dry biscuits, without allergen information. In the end, if you don't like coffee and are on a special diet, you end up drinking water. Not great for an all-you-can-eat buffet. We ended up playing with a sticky set of cards just to have something to do. We decided to leave after 50mn, and the staff charged us for...64mn and 15sec. After he was extremely insisting, we managed to convince him that he made a mistake, and he pretended a mix up with another group entering at the same time.
Don't get me wrong, I like a place that provides a proper living space for cats, with clear rules to respect (I particularly appreciated that it's asked not to lift the cats, not to wake them up, and urging kids under 8 yo not to touch the cats, as well as asking parents to make sure there are no loud noises). But the whole idea could use a better organization and more transparency: if you provide a buffet, make sure it's diverse and that everyone can eat/drink, no matter their allergies or special diets; maybe air the place a bit more so it doesn't smell like a giant cat litter; define at what time the entrance starts and when the visit ends; provide some more info on how the place is run - a business making profit solely by owning cats isn't...
Read moreWhen I came to Prague, I really wanted to visit a cat cafe, and this cafe was the perfect experience. Since me and my boyfriend walked in we could feel that this is such a cozy and heart warming place because all the visitors came to spend their time calmly and peacefully with cats. The host was really nice, spoke English with us perfectly and attended us to the rooms, and showed us around. It is a social place, but also a therapeutic one in my opinion, since playing with cats brought me a feeling of peace and emptied my mind of stress and worries. I can also see this as a gathering point for social interactions of pet lovers, since any customer here seemed like a warm-hearted person that would love a chat. I love the fact that we had included in the price of the stay small treats, coffee and tea(the sweets were really good). We enjoyed coffee, tea and biscuits with the cats company. Each of them has a unique personality, they either like to be caressed when they wish too like that black ones, or they like to come to you (the orange one, the other black one). I spent most of the time there with the white one who let me hold her on my lap and cares her while she purred and also a cute black one joined us and my boyfriend petted her. All of the cats are lovely and cute, some of them take their time in approaching you and in building trust in you, just like we humans do. I loved to meet them in the hallway, or other rooms they always seemed polite and a little bit curious when seeing me. In the main socialisation room you can also find toys for them or sleepy ones in their cat tower. The whole experience brought us a sense of fulfillment and serenity, and I realised how lucky we are that cats exist. This is a wonderful place in itself but the fact that the cats are from shelters and looking for a home and this cafe gives them the opportunity to find a family or a special person makes it even more heartwarming. All my appreciation for the owner and the animal association that make this happen.
Loved it, I would have loved to be back the next day, but I had a flight to catch. Definitely will be back.
Love and appreciation...
Read moreyou cannot enter yourself, you need to ring a bell and be let in (going out the door is under key and lock, the shop keeper needs to unlock to let you out) you need to take off your shoes, slippers provided - I was not fully comfortable with wearing who knows who wore them before slippers, not very good quality ones too. charge by the hour: CZK 120 / h; coffee, muffin free - and not great, self service, coffee machine needs a bit ... ehm ... technical support cats - does not look like a cafe, more like a semi-sub living room games very unfortunately - I could smell cat piss both in the cat room and the kitchen (in one of the other reviews where it came up, the owner's reaction was that this is normal - well, that reaction alone speaks volumes noone else could match) at times a bit slow internet music - not great and a bit too loud
I have checked other reviews, including negative ones - the same issues keep reappearing. The cafe seems to have a communication / management issue - reviewers comments were attacked, deflected, ridiculed by the "owner", which is sadly typical for the country.
For what it is, it is overpriced 3x. Sad to see a place that could be better with a bit of management attention and change in attitude.
I see that they tried to do something better than usual, but the execution and many failings makes this an attempt...
