Found this place before going to a piano concert, I live in Aarhus. Half way through the latte(almost double the price of average may I add), I realized oily thick taste in my mouth, oh no, cow milk.. I am lactose intolerant and I don't consume milk for other reasons aswell. But to be sure I ask my friend who finished a farmer's school in Denmark, is in the food industry! I don't know a more reliable source. After being sure, I go and tell. They mumble and say do you want another one? I don't know, (will that heal me? -to myself), she asks again impatiently.I said ok, it won't do any worse but I actually want nothing, a sorry would be good, ideally giving my money back. She comes with it says something around I hope you enjoy it now. Well it's not about 'enjoyment' I will have a very unpleasant evening. Her answer: I am pretty sure it was oat milk but.... Still no sorry. I feel bad now because I feel like it's my fault for causing this atmosphere. I have been working in cafes on and off since over 15 years. I also make mistakes. But I take accountability and say sorry and if I can, I will offer anything possible to make it up for this inconvenience. This is why humans invented reconciliation. After half an hour I was damn sure it was milk because I was in such pain, nausea, dizziness throughout the evening, sitting through a concert of my favorite musician. If I had some sort of reconciliation, it really would feel better. But on top I feel anger, I feel violated. People ask for oat milk for a reason. Not to be an annoying human being to others. This place started cute, with admiring flowers, wood tables amazing windows, but it quickly turned into a bitter old grandma house, where dare I say perhaps does not like foreigners. I speak Danish and am half Danish, but we were a table of 3 speaking English. We all felt that, because we know the specific feeling. Some people just do not like outsiders. I really have a hard time imagining the same happening with a local dane lady. I didn't even complain or acted angry until she made the comment bringing it, even then I just made a little comment, and became red, because conflicts make me nervous. Mistakes are very human. What is not however is this kind of passive agression, hiding behind pretentious kindness. Sorry for having to write this but it...
Read moreIt's rare for me to give three stars but it is the highest I can give the overall experience at Café Fleuri. If you don't have hours to lounge around, this might not be the place for you. It took an hour from arriving to being served. We ordered sandwiches, one with curried chicken and one gluten free with chicken salad. When they finally arrived, they had the order wrong. The glutenfree was not gluten free. The waitress looked at me and said "I can take it back, but it's going to take some time to defrost a glutenfree roll" as if wanting me to say "oh, go on then, I'll eat it as is". I have an intolerance to gluten and if I had eaten it, I'd be in trouble for a few days after. My partner's curried chicken tasted delicious. My chicken salad was drowning in mayonnaise and while no doubt the gf roll was trying to be healthy, I struggled to get my steak knife through it. The shabby chic interior was relatively cosy until you looked a little closer. One of the legs of our neighbouring tables was about to collapse with what looked like rot and there was other noticeable let downs in the interior In light of the rest if our experience this is a minor...
Read moreAn Odense gem! I adore the atmosphere and immediate calm an beauty inside. The divided rooms and garden area makes it inviting and private, perfect for small groups or solo-visitor like myself. I was greeted by a lovely staff, very acommodating about my dietary needs (coeliac). I felt very welcome and safe. I had the Croque Madame (glutenfree option), cappuccino and a take away glutenfree chocolate cake to enjoy later as I had to leave in a hurry (due to poor planning on my end). Portion size was of good size for me, even some leftover for later. The food tasted great! The coffee was good and the chocolate cake was a treat after supper in my hotelroom.
Good value for money in my opinion, and great service. Will definitely return my next time coming through here. Hope others enjoys this as much as I...
