The rooms were oké, except for the fact that you could here someone throwing up at night as if this person was in your bathroom...||The service to the customers however, is very bad. The woman at the reception could arrange a private transport to Mitad del Mundo, our next hotel in Pululahua, and a return to Quito the next day for 30 dollars. Apparently the driver (which was the huisbrand of the lady at the reception), thought another hotel to be our hotel. We decided to skip the visit to Mitad del Mundo to the next day. When we arrived at the hotel where we wanted to go, he asked 200 dollars!! We told him that this was not the price that we agreed. The told is that is was because the road to our hotel was very bad and long. We were flabergasted and asked him how much it was for only this right, so no return to Quito, he told us 80 dollars, we paid it and felt robbed. The next day someone from the hotel in Pululahua brought us to Mitad del Mundo and back to Quito for 60 dollars.||||We had a reservation for another night in hotel Principal. We asked the lady at the reception if we could pay less for this night to compensate the excess amount for the transportation. She called a couple of times with her husband and told us that he was not giving any money back. When I suggested that the lady could give us 20 dollars back, or that we pay less for the night, the lady told us that it was not possible as the hotel and the transportation company of here husband were two different companies. We left the hotel and went back to our first accommodatie, Hostal Ecuador, which...
Read morePrincipal is a budget hotel, so what you get is a budget hotel with reasonable rates and basic amenities. The location is in the historic center and the place is well situated. The facilities are clean, but need an upgrade. I nearly flipped when I saw the rotary phones and televisions from perhaps the 1980's. Room was on the small side, but still liveable. Climbing three flights of stairs with suicase was no fun. Staff was friendly enough, but unfortunately there was one day where the 2 people on duty struggled to get breakfast prepared for our group of 14. Some of us stepped into the kitchen to help because we had a tight schedule to keep. Apparantly front desk staff doubles as kitchen staff, because this is a small hotel. Wifi was available outside of the room. Sitting on the chair ouside the room in my pj's trying to get work done was not my...
Read moreI have been coming here for a couple of years, and I was really disappointed this trip. The carpets are disgusting, the walls are in need of repair and repainting, and the TV and rotary phone need to be brought into this century. The noise from the lobby tv makes it hard to enjoy reading or quiet time. Breakfast is a bare minimum - today they tried to give me a single slice of ham on a roll - no eggs, or condiments. It is a shame, because the outside of the building and lobby look much better than the rooms. On the Plus Side- hot water with great pressure and wi-fi everywhere. I would only come back if...
