I went there last night because of the beautiful view. When I arrived with family and friends, we requested a table for 4 people near the window so that we could appreciate the view. The host said there weren't any. This restaurant has several floors so that you can have an opportunity to sit closer to the window. However there were other tables closest to the windows. He didn't acknowledge us and so we asked a waiter who graciously sat us at a table near the window. Once our waiter came to take our order, he told us that every item we requested wasn't available. So we had to choose items that really weren't what we wanted. Once our food arrived, they gave us items that we didn't want because they didn't have the requests made. For example, my friend ordered potatoes, but the waiter brought her French fries instead and he said it was because they didn't have the potatoes she wanted. I ordered the Lomo Sandwich. It was too salty. I didn't finish my dish, so I asked to take it home, but they threw it away instead. Lastly, but most importantly, we all got food poisoning. Vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and stomach pain. This was the only meal we ate together that day and we all have the same symptoms. The food was too pricey for the quality... especially since I paid for food poisoning. While the view was great, this place should not be in the business of serving food to human beings. As I lay in my bed in pain and disgust from last night's experience, I warn everyone who is thinking about eating here to really consider the cost of becoming ill for the sake...
Read moreWent to this restaurant as it was considered one of the best and high end in Quito. However we were left not fully impressed but are cognizant it was likely due to timing.
We called the restaurant to see if we could dine there as we would be arriving 1-1.5 hour before close at 9:00 pm. They person on the phone said we could, however when we arrived we were quickly turned away. Fortunately we were able to explain we called and they eventually let us in. We ordered our food quickly, and it was certainly good. It came out quite fast, as it seemed even though their hours indicated they closed at 9:00, they were starting cleaning/closing activities by 8:00. What was disappointing was that the waiter had us pay for the bill while we were eating. I could draw the line at being relatively rushed and having the food come quicker than anticipated, but asking to settle during the meal was not the best experience.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was however, top notch. You had gorgeous views of the city and the entire skyline and it was quite the sight to behold while eating. I can absolutely see why people want to dine here when they visit Quito.
The restaurant in my eyes would easily be a 4/5 star if it wasn't for the unique experience we had. You could tell the service was good, and that they had well trained staff however the management and decision to start closing before posted hours was confusing to us. Given the rushed experience and mixed message, I'm leaving 3 stars for now but open to increasing...
Read moreHad a wonderful time and excellent food! I ordered the steak on stone which combined dinner and a show, the chimichurri was really good. My table also had the pasta with mushrooms and prosciutto which was very nice, the locro de papa (potato soup) which was absolutely delicious and my favourite out of everything we tried, and an octopus dish. The service by Jonathan was really good, he was very inviting and seated us right by the window from which we could see the entire city, a spectacular view, and even took photos for us. As for drinks, we had wine, warm wine/glühwein, and a margarita. The warm wine was very pleasant and the only issue was with the margarita, which didn’t have much flavour and didn’t have the right consistency. Overall, it’s a somehwat expensive (90$ for 3 people) place but the view and the food are worth it, especially for people who are getting to...
