Café San Blas — Restaurant in Centro Histórico

A small family run restaurant. The daughter was impressively running between cooking, making drinks, seating guests, and settling bills. The father was very kind and welcoming while serving tables. Unfortunately, the mother behind the counter made the atmosphere very unpleasant and ruined our experience. She was so rude to us when we sat at the counter, that we asked to move to a table as soon as one cleared. It was still uncomfortable as we watched her bark at her husband and have tense exchanges with her daughter. We ate and left as quick as we could. The food was ok especially for the price. The best dinner we had in Quito. Don't let the fact that you have to knock on the "Secret Door" in order to walk into this place fool you, this place is amazing! It looks, feels and most importantly tastes just like some place that only exists in some travel magazine expo on someone's grandmother's kitchen in Italy, in some town that you have never heard of or will never find on a map". To say that this place feels rustic is an understatement. Food was amazing and cheap like those stories your Great Grandpa told you about when he would tell his old WW2 stories. Café San Blas is an excellent Italian restaurant The food , atmosphere, and the Owners are wonderful, despite our poor Spanish, they were so kind. Also, prices are really reasonable - you don’t have to break the bank
