This was a nice hotel, and we had a large room without a balcony which was modern and well laid out. The bathroom was large but the quite see-through glass surrounding it meant you could see a person on the toilet etc. This wasn’t so great! ||There were a few niggles that could be easily improved. Staff unfortunately could not, or would not, turn the music off around swimming pool when we were the only ones there in the middle of the day trying to relax. The breakfast was great. However, one morning we turned up 7 mins early to the breakfast area at 6.23 (6.30 start!’) because we had a 7am tour. It was pointed out that it would be ‘open’ in 7 mins and we could not even get some fruit or a coffee from the jugs which were already set out and available. The staff appeared to just be applying a rule rather than be a bit flexible and helpful to their guests. Maybe the hotel management are very strict? ||Breakfast bags and coffee were provided when we checked out before breakfast time which were very good. Overall it was clean, there was a fridge in room and free water in the bar area. There were only 4 loungers and a day bed around the pool which means there may not be enough when the hotel is busier. There was no lift, but staff helped with suitcases. All staff spoke excellent English! |Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay again. Approx 100m from port area and so it’s a very...

Read moreWe booked a scuba certification through PADI and they hooked us up with Ikala Hotel. It was perfect! Centrally located near the main street it was easy to walk everywhere we wanted to go in 15 min or less. All the important things- Scuba Iguana (for us), Charles Darwin Research Center, Galapagos National park to Tortuga Bay (bay was a longer walk), and the pier. As well as tons of restaurants, shops, pharmacies, and guides all nearby. The whole area felt extremely safe at any hour of the day. The hotel itself is lovely! The main office is helpful and friendly. Upon arrival we were greeted with juice and welcomed to the bar area by the pool while the staff brought our luggage to our room. We booked one of the suites, it was very clean and well put together. Large bathroom, couch, balcony, filtered water pitchers were put in the room daily and everything was just very nice. If you have breakfast included (which I recommend), there is a buffet daily from 6am - 10am; fruit, pastries, daily items, fresh juices, coffee, and they offer eggs cooked to order. Everything about this hotel was so great that after we went to Isabela island for a few days, we decided to come back to stay before having to catch our flight home. This time we booked a standard room and it was just as nice! Thank you Ikala for a...
