We came here the first time for a breakfast ceviche as it was the only place close by our hotel that was open just after 9am that serves fish. We ordered a Peruvian ceviche with canchalagua, shrimps, and octopus, which was delicious (ask for extra hot sauce if you like it spicy). The shrimps were particularly fresh that day and I had taken a liking to canchalagua after trying it for the first time on this island. The Ecuadorian ceviche with shrimps and tuna was a little bland. The shrimps were sweet, firm, and meaty but the tuna chunks were tough and dry, perhaps left in the marinade too long. They didn’t have sugar cane that day but the pint of naranjilla fresh juice was very refreshing and went really well with the ceviches.
We later took away a portion of shrimps with coconut and ginger sauce (comes with sweet mashed plantains and white rice) and a Arroz Marinero seafood rice for a day at Tortuga Bay. Both options were delicious. They charge around 50 cents for each...
