I used this hotel a lot in 2015 putting up with leaking toilets, shower and bathroom door that regularly got stuck, a room that was regularly flooded from the air-conditioner and staff who did not know how to dry a floor, because I was a repeat customer since 2012, and it was within my comfort zone. I used it because I liked the staff and was familiar with the location. Now, a month after I left, I am finding that not only did the manager never once set aside 5 minutes to talk to me, despite repeated requests, I now find that he has allowed and encouraged his staff to repeat scandalous lies about me. Not only did the staff refuse to help me when I was sick, they locked me in the elevator when I wanted to go out to get help, they confiscated my clothing and belongings in case I decided not to pay my bill! They never once arranged the laundry service they say they provide. They shoved bread in my face like I was a zoo animal - without a table, plate or tray for breakfast on one occasion - on another treated me like a convict for daring to take an extra piece of bread. I was paying for a double room but not eating 2 breakfasts and I was hungry! The staff are underpaid. There is a high turnover of personnel. The cleaners do not know how to clean. The bedding is sprayed with perfume instead of being properly laundered. The manager will only give you attention if you are a man. Most of the staff can not speak English and they lie and gossip about the guests. Wifi is supposed to be provided in all rooms - forget it - it rarely worked when I was there. There is no ethic of "service" in the place at all. You will wait for at least half an hour to be served a tea or a coffee. Even the fridge in the Cafeteria which stores soft drinks for sale has a huge padlock on it. The elevator is from a bygone era. The youngest receptionist spends most of her time on the cell phone not caring if she is facing in your direction as she screeches down the phone. No respect for guests, who are treated as a necessary evil and a definite inconvenience. I have been accused of running around the hotel naked! and of writing defamatory online comments about my best friend Fatma who happens to work at the hotel. Well, now I am telling the truth and blowing the lid on the place. Don't come here. If you want service go to the Blue Bird. If you want cleanliness go elsewhere too and if you are a solitary female stay far away from these lying, two-faced scandal-mongers and if you are Muslim protect yourself from the Fitna you will be exposed to here - whether openly or behind your back. The staff and management are complete hippocrites and do not deserve a good recommendation. Your guests will be insulted, your honour tarnished, your friendships tested, and your money wasted - stay...
Read moreMy wife and I arrived at this hotel on December 27th 2015. When we booked on Expedia, the pictures of the hotel looked pretty decent. However, on arrival we certainly did not see the same hotel that we booked. First off, you can either take the elevator that is older than father time and the size of a sardine can or you can take the stairs to get to the actual hotel which is on the 6th floor. Trust me, take the stairs. When you first enter, it looks very old and run down. It needs major upgrades and improvements and this is just reception. ||||When we got to our room, it was everything but the room we booked. There were 2 very uncomfortable and filthy beds. One sheet on one bed, and the other had one blanket. The beds also had mold, and dead bugs in the mattresses. There was a remote control for a TV that wasn't even there! The only lock on the door was a push button lock that certainly didnt secure the room at all. This brings me to the bathroom. There were no towels, no toilet paper, and the only shower was on the wall where the water just runs on to the bathroom floor and soaking everything else in the bathroom and down a drain in the middle of the floor.||||We were not there for more then an hour and we found another hotel immediately and checked out. It seems that the manager does not care about the state of his business or the people that choose to stay here. Truly a shame as it is in a good location in the center of Cairo. We do not recommend...
