الكوخ - وسط البلد — Restaurant in Cairo

Let me paint you the picture:

Pros: Greeted at the door and taken on a tour. The decor is lovely and very inviting. Coffee - the French coffee was good. Food was hot. Place is clean.

Pros: Some areas doesn't have any AC and you slowly begin to feel the humidity rise. 20 mns for someone to notice me and take my order. I ordered beans, eggs, cheese, fries, bread, and French coffee. The coffee arrived 16 mns later. Food arrived 20 mns after I ordered it, missing the cheese. The beans had no flavor whatsoever. The also served it as whole beans. Just beans with some tahini on it. Eggs had a strong smell.

*I asked for the manager, who shared that they have new staff and are still training them. He apologized, promised a discount, and ordered the waiter to replace the eggs and beans.

I finally received the cheese. The Fava beans were diluted in water and the eggs don't smell or taste any different. I put them to the side and ate the cheese. I updated the manager. I asked for the check. He charged me 346 egyptian pounds for this nonsense!

In summary, the place is just a great spot to hang out and maybe drink something, but the food and service are embarrassing. For 346, I could have eaten at a local cart for a week and had a much better experience.

I will never return. I do not recommend this place, unless you want to experience utter...

I went to this restaurant in Cairo because it had a good rating for breakfast but I was very disappointed. When I sat with my partner and put my hand on their shoulder I was told to take it away which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. Only two of the four rooms had air conditioning and the one we wanted to sit in did not so we were left in the heat.

We arrived at 2pm and asked for the breakfast menu but were told it was not available. There was no information given when we walked in and nothing written on the menu about when breakfast finishes so as a customer you are left guessing.

There were also no signs or rules posted anywhere to warn me that touching my partner would be a problem. Instead it felt like they just want people to come in spend money and then accept whatever restrictions they decide.

In the end I walked out because I will not tolerate that kind of behaviour. I am from Britain and we follow certain respectful standards. Cairo is meant to be modern and if I am paying I should be able to sit with my partner in comfort and enjoy my meal in a...

المكان الجميل دا كنا اكتشفناه من فترة في وسط البلد و احلى حاجة فيه ان في كل زيارة بنلاقي تطور و في نفس الوقت محافظين على نفس الروح اللي أبتدوا بيها..

الجديد دلوقتي ان القاعة الكبيرة (الغابة) بقت مكيفة و كدة احلى بكتير و تبقى جميلة اوي في المناسبات سواء عيد ميلاد، او فوتو سيشن، او حتى خطوبة، انت ممكن تحجز المكان كله ليك لو عايز او تقعد و تحتفل وسط الناس حسب رغبتك انت

الجديد كمان ان كل يوم خميس بيعملوا حفلة عود تاخدك لزمن الطرب الجميل، و الناس الموجودة في المكان تحس انهم ناس بتقدر الفن، سواء العود او الجاليري نفسه، هتلاقي في كل شبر تحفة، سواء صورة دمها خفيف او فيها فكرة او لمسة فنية حتى لو بسيطة زي الانتيكات و الحاجات الهاند ميد اللي بيعملوها و مخصصين جزء بيتباع فيه حاجات من الانتيكات دي

من التغيرات اللي اتفاجئنا بيها انهم عملوا منيو طواجن شرقية خصوصا ان بيجيلهم في اجانب من وقت للتاني و الاكل يعتبر جزء مهم من ثقافة كل بلد عشان كدة الاجانب بيحبوا يجربوا طعم الاكل المصري، و تقريبا الكوخ حاليا هو المكان الوحيد في وسط البلد دلوقتي اللي بيقدم طواجن بامية باللحمة، بطاطس، تورلي، فتة ، مولوخية و بتنجان مخلل، و اهم ميزة ان هم عاملين كل حاجة بطريقتها الاصلية من غير اي افتكاسات و عاملينها حلو اوي بصراحة خصوصا لما تقعد تاكل على صوت السيدة ام كلثوم و تعيش مع صوتها في جو وسط البلد الجميل

لو بتدور على الروقان ممكن تطلب طبق البطيخ بالجبنة "طلبي المفضل" خصوصا لما بروح بالنهار، تحس ان البطيخ بينزل يرطب على مراوحك حرفيا و اكلة البطيخ بالجبنة دي مشهورة بين الاكيلة اصحاب المزاج العالي

ولاد البلد لما يجوا يحلوا مبياكلوش حاجات سيكي ميكي، الحلو عندهم فطير بلدي بعسل ابيض، و عسل اسود و طحينة و كمان عندهم جبنة قديمة عشان لو حبيت تديها فطير بالطحينة و الجبنة القديمة او فطير و عسل، و كل دا الهدف منه انك تعيش جو بيوت وسط البلد بروحها البسيطة بتاعت زمان

كمان الDrinks عندهم مميزة اوي و الشباب هناك بيخترعوا كوكتيلات منعشة و شكلها كمان حلو اوي، بحب اوي الوقفة هناك في البلكونة و في ايدي العصير و اديها مزمزة و نديها نكت و حكاوي مع صحابنا

كمان الجو دا يساعدك تبدع بسهولة خصوصا لو حبيت تقعد مع نفسك و تطلع احلى افكار بسهولة من غير ما تقعد تعصر دماغك، و عندهم مكتبتين (واحدة في الغابة و التانية في دوار العمدة) فيهم مجموعة كتب ممكن تختار منهم اللي يشدك و تقعد تقرا فيه مع الكابتشينوا و تسرح معاه و تعيش تفاصيله

الكوخ مكان جميل و اتمنى يفضل محافط على نفس الروح و يستمر بيها على طول لانه مش شبه اي مكان تاني، سواء هتروح لوحدك او هتقابل صحابك هناك، في كل الحالات المكان تحس انه...
