Met with waiter called mahmoud gamal Who had an attitude towards any egyptian When asked for menu started to respond in rude unprofessional way saying only 3 prices starting from 35 to 60 and there is no menu not looking at us acting as we had to know it before we get there . Then he was talking about some sort of offers to some foreign women and men in table near me.. When asked about what offers available He looked back nervously saying no no no offers ..... He enforced us to pay the price before serving any food while every 1 in the tables around was paying after like normal And like every other restaurant i visit all over the globe .... Then when tried to joke asking for extra plate ( kemala) & asked about the price ... He suddenly looking wierdly to me as i did something wrong thenhe was asking what did i tell u???? ..... Our guide, a young man named Ashraf, guided us to this restaurant, when we told him that we wanted an authentic Egyptian meal, apart from this. According to him, the origin of this restaurant was actually a handcart. The owner, was the father of young Tarek. Since "Abou" means father, so Abou Tarek, is father of Tarek. Having gained popularity, he expanded and hence this restaurant. There were numerous pictures of celebrities enjoying a meal here. This four storied restaurant is usually very crowded, filled with locals and tourists alike, and during peak times you may need to wait for a table. Koshary is their main dish. It is available in 3 sizes and is cheap, tasty and fills you up. It is also totally vegetarian, Made of noodles, chickpeas, homemade tomato sauce, fried onions, chilli paste and lemons. They are all served separately and the waiter assembled it with a flourish, right at our table. It was yummy and served hot, so we enjoyed the meal. Many may argue that it is not very good in comparison to other places, but as a tourist, I was delighted with my meal.
