We did not enjoy a single thing in this hotel, and I am using the word hotel very loosely, for lack of a better word.
Δεν άρεσε · Oh dear where do I begin? The entrance was not really an entrance. I would call it a hole in the wall from where you could access the building. Given the above, the security in the building is practically non-existent. We checked in as it was late at night to go find another hotel (which we did first thing in the morning), but we could not sleep at all as we were very concerned (dare I say scared) for our safety. The hotel (more of a demolition object rather than hotel) did not meet the bare minimum of sanitation criteria, as the floor, the common areas, the room walls, curtains, bathroom, closets and beddings bore stains on them. There was fauna wandering around aimlessly in the halls (specifically, we came across a cat and a weasel in the staircase). What is more, the balcony door of our room would not close, so we were concerned for even more 4-leggrd surprises and/or insects hanging out with us. The room itself was a horror project. We have attached images for reference, however please note that we did not even dare take our clothes off to sleep - We slept on our packed clothes. The curtains were terribly stained (honestly I have never seen something like that before). The bathroom towels smelled like they may have been washed several months ago. The room had various holes as well, whereas the walls had hand prints on them. The bathroom did not have hot water, toilet paper or any form of cleaning agent (I. E. Soap, as shampoo would be a Luxury here). We noticed a half empty pizza box laying in the hall outside our bedroom upon check in. The next day we noticed the cleaning lady pick up the box and throwing it in a hole in the wall, which it seems functions as a garbage dump. When we picked up our luggage to check out running from the "hotel" the manager accompanied us to our room to ask us what was...
Read moreBuyer Beware ! All the 1 star reviews accurately describes the desperate condition of the place. I will top it by calling it a hostel not a palace. I booked the hotel for Dec 30&31 , when I arrived around nine pm they informed me that due to overbooking we will be staying at their sister hotel. They took our bags and we were taken to a dark and dirty entrance where two homeless people slept at the entrance of the ancient no door elevator . The door opened up to the fifth floor where we were brought to a rooming house where a young man where the towels and bedding was stained and the towels were torn and the bedding. Since it was late and New Year’s Eve we could not get another room and no-one could speak English except for asking us to pay the booking price. I wouldn’t have minded if the price was $20 - $30 for a room of this calibre so we paid cash. We relocated to City Palace the next morning and they tried to charge our credit card despite us having paid the night before in cash, I do not recommend this hotel for foreigners visiting Cairo as I saw them turning away customers blaming booking. com for overbooking their hotel and I did not appreciate the switch bait feeling that I left me feeling cheated. The photos you see is the substituted room I paid $70...
