To begin the owner contacted me before my flight to ensure that our room would be ready for us. (We landed at 4am.) The cab driver had to circle around the building as the entrance to the hostel is in-between the side of the building vs front, but otherwise it was easy to find. The hostel is located on the 5th floor with elevator access. The building itself with it's old architecture beauty gives this hostel a certain ambiance of history but when you enter the hostel it quickly transforms to the modern day age. We stayed in the queen plus two twin bed room. The room was plenty of space for us with incredibly comfortable beds. Our room also had a nice little private balcony that allowed us to step outside and see the amazing sunsets over The Egyptian Museum. We had plenty of fresh blankets, sheets, pillows, and towels. The ac was powerful enough to keep us comfortable 24/7. (The unit here is so much better than the ac units in the states btw.) The breakfast was freshly cooked and was plenty filling for us. As we are female travelers on holiday, we felt extremely safe here. We ordered from local delivery and the deliverers would only deliver to the door of the hostel which we truly appreciated the added security measures. The staff here at the Egyptian Nights Hostel were absolutely incredible to work with and to answer any of our questions about here in Cairo. They went above and beyond their duties to ensure that our stay...
Read moreHello. I would like to comment on our family stay in Egypt. On Booking.com we found the Egyptian Night Hotel. It is a cheap but very cozy hotel, with very humble and kind people who made us feel great all the time. It is located in the center of the Capital. The price includes a good quality daily breakfast. We contacted the Manager Faris before the trip and put ourselves in his hands. He took care of all the coordination of my family's trip. They picked us up at the airport, accommodated us in a very comfortable room. He organized a program of visits for us, with the Company that he runs, which included visits with a driver and a tour guide throughout the country. Everything on time, the guides are very well prepared who make you learn in a week what you would not have learned in years of study. As the program was to several cities such as Alexandria, Cairo, Aswan, Luxor among others, they took care of arranging all transportation by car, train, bus, boat and especially the 3-day cruise from Aswan to Luxor. At all times we felt very protected and guided, they were always attentive to us and we were in constant communication. It was an incredible experience. In the end we were very happy for the 8 days we spent wonderfully, we became fond of the entire team that helped us and we are sure that if we return to Egypt, my family and I will put ourselves in their hands again. Sincere greetings and thank you for everything with...
Read more-- Ugly: bathroom stank. Reeking heavily. Fruit flies breeding on the walls were enjoying it though. -- Bad: mosquitoes with open windows enter easily. Shower was missing a bit of space, because it was dripping all over the place. I'm unaware if there was room service, because I haven't bothered asking. But I prefer to be asked if I want it or not. I had to ask myself for toilet paper and a mop. When paying for the room I bring Egyptian Pounds, get told how much it is in dollars. As an european, that just makes things more confusing. Overall price for this quality... meh... -- The good: located close to the center, museum, koshary, street pizza, felfela, coal grilled lamb chops, banks, etc. The hotel has laundry service, tour options, (basic) breakfast, fridge in room. Helpful staff.
Before you enter reception you read "where your expectations meet reality", well... Not quite. Considering the building is 100+years old, I was expecting a torn down room with dust flowing from the faucet instead of water. The "reality" really sank in when the honking would not cease, the bathroom would start smelling like sewers with fruit flies on the walls, and the smoke from the living area would flow under our door nicely just on time ready to fall asleep (nostril fire alarm). If it wasn't for those 3 big problems, I'd be back for sure....
