Grand Palace? Lol. The place rather looks like from a horror movie set. The hotel is on the 6th floor of an abandoned looking building. Broken lift. At check in they told us they needed to keep our passports for 30 minutes until the system builds up. We needed to ask to change the bedsheets because they were dirty. Hair on the pillow. No hot water at all. Dirty, absolutely dirty room, wires sticking out of the wall, paint patches all over the floor, mold on the balcony. I honestly thought cockroaches will run around at any second. Way too noisy from the street below. At breakfast the coffee was foamy from not being washed, rinsed properly. 2 pieces of old roll with some cheese. Just run!

I don't know how to describe this. You arrive in front of what appears to be an abandoned or condemned building. Broken elevators take you to the 6th floor where there is the reception of this hotel. Rooms were old and dirty, not enough towels or water pressure. Breakfast was three pieces of what passes for bread in Egypt, an egg, two pieces of cheese and some jam, with Nescafe. A Russian couple walked out of breakfast in disgust. For what we paid, it was an incredible disappointment. Stray dogs barking and howling all night. More of a hotel for local Egyptian businessmen or soldiers.

If you book through booking.com be aware you need to pay cash in a foreign currency on arrival plus taxes (ie US, UK, Euro). The gentleman on reception were friendly and helpful; wrote down addresses in Arabic for us for taxis, had a hairdryer I could use, etc. The comparison to a UK equivalent hotel though would I think be a 2 star(maybe 3) though so keep that in mind.

I lost a bag that included my passport and lived a nightmare during my most recent trip to Cairo. The staff here was so helpful, kind, and accommodating during my trip. I rarely ever post reviews online following any experience at a place, but wanted to tell everyone how great this place is!

  1. Location- The hotel is located a few blocks from Tahrir Square in Downtown Cairo. The street is perfect for those looking for a refuge from the loud, bustling streets of Cairo, but still want to be close enough to experience the excitement of Cairo! There are also a number of shops, restaurants, and small stores around. You can find anything you'd like within walking distance!

  2. Hotel- The hotel itself is on the sixth floor of a building that appears to be dimly lit and a little scary upon entry. When you get to the sixth floor, it is a whole new world! It is sparkling and well-lit. The rooms themselves are also great- they feature a balcony, a shower, with hot water and great water pressure, a television (!!!) and AC. I was really impressed both with the cleanliness and how well the (very patient) housekeeping staff maintained my room every night during the stay.

  3. Staff- The staff of the hotel made my trip to Cairo as good as it can possibly be when you lose your passport while traveling alone in a foreign country. They greeted me upon my arrival, helped me settle in ,gave me advice on how to proceed, and even gave me their phone to call the embassy when I came back very frantic (and very late!) from the police station. They were also super calm, understanding, and accommodating when I had to suddenly extend my trip two days due to having trouble with replacing my passport. I genuinely appreciate the kindness, support, and warmth they showed me during my...

By coming to hotels area,we were searching for the hotel sign, when we realise that this hotel were situated at the sixth floor of a building!!!|There were two elevators you could use both, but the one of the right needed card to start,so you may use the one of the left.|Was pretty slow to get to the sixth floor, but doesnt matter..we had time.|The room were spacious, old furnitures and the mattress not so good.|The breakfast was contunental,so you get a plate with three bread, two eggs, marmalade and two pieces soft chesse, coffe or tea...thats it|These are the negatives things...|The positive ones were the stuff treatment, thet were excellent and very helpful, especially the man at the front office, sorry but I dont ask for his name, was everytime there to solve all our questions and needs.|We booked trip to pyramids and taxi to the airport from the hotel with their help and gelerally I would definitely come again cause of their behaviour!|The hotel is right next to tahrir square and to egyptian museum so its a big plus if...

Located at the famous Champollion street, this hotel is 2 blocks away from the Cairo museum. We used the hotel sort of as transition during our trip. We paid one night so we can store our luggage and take a shower before heading to the airport for our trip to Luxor. The hotel doesn't start the first floor. It starts at the 6 floor. We got a little confused going up on the elevators. Got lost because we took the second elevator in the property which requires a key card to go up because there are actually apartments on the lower floors. After that it was straight forward. Rooms booked thorough booking.com were reserved and paid; waiting for us. The rooms are very nice and clean; good size too. Bathrooms are also very clean although the shower is kind of small. The small shower seems to be a thing in Egypt. We walk from the hotel to the Cairo museum. Is only 5 minutes away. Staff was very helpful and nice. They help us call a taxi for the airport when we...
