I had read mixed reviews about this place but deemed it worth a go and whilst my visit wasn't amazing, I would give the place a second go in order to make a definite decision about it. The entrance is as described, quirky, unpretentious entry to an old school style apartment block with a lift to floor one or a climb up a spiral staircase that has a nice shabby-chić feel to it. I'm guessing the place is about 100 years old, would have been spectacular when new and is now suitably vintage in appearance. The modest entry fee of 20 EGP is paid in cash in the entrance foyer. To the right is a rather nice looking club room where alcohol is not served, and if you're not drinking alcohol going into this part might be the smart move. To the left you find yourself in a spacious open area akin to sitting outside any Greek taverna, just on a very large scale, there are lots of tables and there is an additional outer area, behind the greenery which seems to be an overflow area, although some may prefer the privacy that this offers. Arriving early is wise, the place gets packed by around 8 to 9pm so they are obviously doing something right. I thought the service was good, I sat close to the service area which might have helped. The staff were attentive and helpful and clearly very busy. I drank Stella here, it was chilled but could have colder. That said they might have had a rush on - I had been to the El Horreyat earlier in the day and they had sold out! The food was a tad average, portions were modest and it could have been tastier. The atmosphere was good and the place was packed. I would revisit, hope for more chilled beer and give the menu more thought. If on this visit the beers were to be served without the additional chilling, I might skip making the food order or maybe try the internal part of the club for dining. However, the place is extremely popular and there must be a good...
Read moreThe Greek Club in Downtown Cairo is a truly unique gem amidst our amazing and vibrant city. It seamlessly blends cozy, vintage vibes with Greek and Cairo elements, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
Located on the first floor before the old Groppi building, there's an entry fee of 20 LE if you're not a member. Inside, you'll find a spacious indoor area with exquisite interior decor, complemented by several outdoor spaces offering different views. Personally, I preferred the outdoor areas.
For dinner, I ordered the shish tawook dish with fries, which was satisfyingly priced at just 140 LE. It wasn't a high-end restaurant but offered decent quality. However, the mojito I ordered was overly sugary and disappointing—I didn't enjoy it.
Overall, everything else was delightful, from the attentive service to the music. The only downside was that I didn't find any soft drinks to my liking.

Read moreWe came here ‘cos of nice reviews… don’t trust them! First of all you have to know that there’s 31% additional charge for tax, service and no idea what it means “cover” (check our receipt on the pic here). That’s more than what Americans charge in US with taxes and tips… for food we waited 40min to get it even though there were only 3 tables occupied in whole restaurant. Everything could be acceptable if at least food was good, but unfortunately it was cold and just plain.. i’m not saying it’s disgusting, but i’m not saying it was good either. For this price in total you can get much better food in bigger quantity in other place. Additionally i ordered mint tea but the mint leaves were dirty so i didn’t use them. I’m giving 3 stars for atmosphere ‘cos the terrace was nice and it could be nice if not for all of the above.. overall huge...
