I stayed here for a week, so here’s an honest review: If you’re looking for an affordable private room in downtown Cairo, Gresham Hotel is an option. However, there are some things you should know: The hostel feels almost abandoned, with very few guests. When we entered our room, it was clear that no one had stayed there for a long time—tables and wardrobes were covered in dust. I ended up using my own blanket and pillowcase because the hotel’s didn’t look clean or fresh. The elevator doesn’t work, so be prepared to climb four floors every time. There was no internet for the first two days, and when it finally worked, it was extremely slow. Our shower was broken, and it took two days for it to be fixed. There is no housekeeping service. You have to manage your trash yourself, either keeping it in the room or leaving it outside. As you can see in some photos, there were piles of garbage in the corridor. Lastly, there’s ongoing construction in the building, so you might wake up to loud noises and you can’t use the balcony.

‏DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. This hotel is the worst Cairo experience ever - I lost my valuable necklace here in my room because one of them he opened the door when I was sleeping and when I asked him who are you he said I’m a housekeeper and this place never apologized or took responsibility, noisiness everywhere No welcome at all and they are laying all the time they said to me there’s breakfast in the room and when I went to the reception to ask about how can I’ve my breakfast she said we don’t have I’m sorry and it was terribly. ‏This just should not happen anymore in Egypt and it is embarrassing. I am usually not leaving any comments on google or booking- this experience was just exceptionally needed to be shared.

They have Wi-fi in the lobby, that's a nice thing. They have lot's of rooms and it means lots of travellers.. I'm staying a room with 4 beds. the space is large, two windows, but no ac. they don't really clean the space, like others seems too. It's in downtown and close of Nilo 1km.

I (female, 19) stayed alone at the hotel in a single room.

The doorman seemed nice at first, but then he kept on watching me whenever i came back or left. Me and my friend had to study for an exam, so we wanted to do that in my room (of course at day time), but the doorman wouldn’t let us go to my room together, not even to pick up our bags. NO PRIVACY?!

Twice they nocked at my door at random times to check/make sure that i was alone in my room.

Once, at night (maybe 9pm), i was laying in my bed and watching a movie and suddenly i hear the noises of a door lock. MY door lock. I see the doorman (male, maybe 50 years old) take a look into my room and then close the door again. I was alone in my room, 19 year old female, only in underwear and a blanket. My door was double locked, with the key inside the lock!, but the man just opened it anyways. He immediately closed it again and apologized, he said he had mistaken the room and didn’t remember that this was my room. AS IF! the hotel is so small, it’s impossible to actually forget that. And even if, that should still not be happening!!! I was alone and something like that is really scarry! I already double locked my room! What else am i supposed to do? A few days later someone calls me to the reception to talk to the doorman again (the first time i had to talk to him alone because usually my friend always accompanied me to the hotel because i dont speak arabic). I go down stairs to talk to him and 30 seconds later he (male, 50) starts calling me (female, 19) pretty and making VERY inappropriate comments. !!

After these incidents i did not leave my room alone again without someone picking me up, because i was too scared and uncomfortable to see that man again.

The hotel has very nice rooms and a very central location downtown. BUT as a young woman, alone, i did not feel safe being there alone (I honestly felt safer outside on the street 💀 ) and i would not go there again, nor recommend any woman traveling alone...

|No words could describe how dreadful it was. Filthy room, smelly sheets, dirty towels, nothing worked! toilet didn't flush, drain in the bathroom didn't work, giant dust mites biting while we sleep. dirt, dirt, dirt, everywhere! dodgy elevator, dusty balcony, sticky door knob. nothing huge, but we lost money inside our room! I could go on and on !!! My advice is : You better off spend more cash for proper hotel. Take all inclusive deal if you could , it's free from streets harassment!||Egypt is beautiful but be careful if you travel as a couple. From my experience around Cairo and major attractions, we were seen as 'the walking wallet' the moment we leave the hotel ...streets harassment started!!!!||(Ladies: you will attract all the attentions if you walk around in shorts/short skirt, prolly will get offered camels from the local men too.)||Taxis honking every minute, rude street sellers, they get intimidated if you aren't interested! We wanted to visit khan el khalili but ended up at the local bazaar! Wasn't the best experience at all! But glad that we went for the first and...
