My stay at Olivia Hotel was so great! It’s very clean and quiet. The staff are attentive and friendly. Dunya and Fatima took great care of me every morning. I will note, just to manage expectations, that I reserved their most basic room and it was quite compact. If you’re coming from the U.S. the size might surprise you. But it really was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the fridge was stocked with beverages that cost less than at the market, and the breakfast every morning was so so tasty. A fried egg, Egyptian pita with fig jam on the side, a couple kinds of cheese, fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, yogurt, coffee or tea. All of it every morning! Fatima also does a laundry service that is very affordable. It was less than $4 for a load (the charge is per item). It’s also important to note that if you’re used to US or tourist area hotels, this one may be hard to locate at first. It’s in a large building with businesses and (I think) residences. To get into the building you go through a hallway from the street. It’s lined with businesses with very friendly people. Then you take the elevator to Floor 2. On Floor 2 you’ll see the sign for the hotel. But you can stop anyone and ask for directions if you need to. I am a woman and was traveling alone; I felt very safe the whole time. Overall, I am so happy with my stay and will be at Olivia Hotel any time I’m in Cairo...
Read moreThe standard room 201 was very small (less than 5m2) with a window I couldn’t open. We stay for 3 nights, none clean the room during our stay although we requested it. We had breakfast just the last day, the breakfast was terrible (nothing similar to other people photos on their reviews). Please note they don’t have restaurant so you will eat the breakfast in your bed. The building is very old, the ground flour is pathetic and the “hotel” operates in the second floor. Using the lift is not a pleasure but the starts are not great as you see rubbish everywhere on your way up. The location is in the Cairo center where you can find plenty of hotels much better. The reception guy during night shift smokes and/or the hotel allows people to smoke in the rooms. So I don’t recommend this please for couples, women or tourist not Egyptians. Please note the hotel just has 22 reviews. I just check the score rather than the number. I would have appreciated seeing genuine reviews before booking...
Read moreAfter a terrible night in one of the nearby hotels, we canceled our stay the next morning and moved to the Olivia Hotel. Out on the street, Mina was already coming to meet us and accompanied us into the hotel. Once inside, we felt an immense sense of relief. The hotel was bright, welcoming, and clean—exactly what we needed for our visit with a toddler. We later found out that the hotel had only opened a few months ago, and it showed! Everything was renovated, beautifully furnished, and impeccably maintained. Both the reception staff—especially Mina—and Fatma from housekeeping were wonderful hosts: always friendly, always approachable, and always helpful. The location in the heart of Cairo is...
