N.B: The review written a week ago with a 5/5 is actually the hotel staff! Incredibly cheeky - not a real review!
I was charged for 5 nights at this hotel that I did not stay.
Paying for my stay in advance turned out to be a big mistake. The hotel cancelled my first night and moved me to a cheaper, dirtier sister hotel (broken furniture, cigarette holes in sheets, dusty, dark), but kept the full amount I paid. I then had to leave Egypt earlier than expected due to war-related airspace closures in the region.
When I requested a refund for the unused nights, the receptionist told me to contact Expedia and said management would make the final decision. However, this is not the actual policy—Expedia allows date changes and refunds for unused nights even after check-in, as long as the hotel confirms the check-out date. Management’s only responsibility was to confirm when I left, which they refused to do. Instead, they falsely told Expedia that I stayed for the remaining nights, in a deliberate attempt to keep my money for nights I did not stay. This isn’t just poor service—it’s a clear violation of Expedia’s refund policy and basic customer trust.
The only contact available is the reception staff via WhatsApp. They do not answer the phone and will not share the contact details of the hotel management, who are causing the issue. The reception staff were polite but powerless—management clearly has no interest in honesty.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I was so pleased with the staff during my stay that I actually recommended the hotel to three other travellers I met. They booked and stayed at the hotel while I was there, based on my recommendation. Despite this, when I needed help and had to leave early, this is how the hotel treated me—by refusing my refund, ignoring my requests and misrepresenting my stay to keep my money.
Pros: Centrally located, safe, good staff Cons: Broken furniture, dusty rooms, missing basics like hand soap, and—most importantly—unethical management
There are many similar basic hotels nearby, so you will not miss out by choosing another one. It is not worth the frustration of this ongoing dispute. In total, I ended up paying the hotel for 5 nights I did not stay there: 1 night when I was moved to a cheaper, sister hotel and 4 nights after I had already left the country.
The unethical practices and lack of accountability by management are deeply concerning. As of now, I have not received a refund for any of these nights, and the hotel continues to misrepresent my stay to Expedia. The only people you can contact are the receptionists, who have no authority to resolve these issues and are not responding to messages to confirm the dates. This disappointing end to my stay has left me feeling completely let down—I will not return and do not recommend it to others.
Save yourself the stress and choose another hotel—this one simply...
