I have traveled extensively across the globe and have stayed in accommodations ranging from budget hostels to high-end luxury resorts. I generally have realistic expectations based on price and branding, but my experience at M Gallery Resort was so far below what was advertised that I felt the need to write a thorough and honest review. If you are considering this hotel—especially as an international guest—do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. This was easily one of the most frustrating, disappointing, and misleading hotel stays I’ve ever had.
LOCATION: Horrible
ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE & CUSTOMER SERVICE: Unwelcoming and Unprofessional Once we finally arrived, we were greeted with what I can only describe as cold indifference from the front desk staff. The front desk manager in particular was unprofessional, dismissive, and clearly uninterested in offering even basic hospitality. No warm greeting, no offer of help with bags, no useful information about the property—just a transactional check-in that made us feel like a burden.
As an international traveler, I rely on front desk staff to assist with simple things like confirming transportation, local tips, or even helping locate amenities. Here, none of that existed. Any questions we asked were met with short answers or complete disinterest. There was no sense that the staff cared about the guest experience at all.
FACILITIES: Broken Elevator and Poor Condition To make matters worse, the elevator was completely out of order during our stay—with no warning ahead of time and no offer of assistance from staff. We had to carry multiple pieces of luggage up several flights of stairs, again with no help offered and no apology given. If you are elderly, have mobility issues, or are simply traveling with bags or children—this is an absolute dealbreaker. And frankly, it’s unacceptable for a hotel marketing itself as upscale.
ROOM QUALITY: 2 to 2.5 Star at Best The rooms themselves were another major letdown. Outdated furnishings, dim lighting, and a general sense of wear and tear. Bedding was average at best, and the overall cleanliness left much to be desired. Fixtures were cheap, the walls were thin (we heard noise from adjacent rooms constantly), and the so-called “resort” amenities were nonexistent or in poor shape. There is nothing luxurious or even modern about these rooms—they felt like they belonged in a 2-star roadside inn, not a boutique resort.
NO AMENITIES, NO COMFORT, NO SERVICE The property overall lacks basic comforts and amenities you’d expect even at a mid-tier hotel. No welcoming common spaces, no real concierge service, and no signs of the extra touches that separate real boutique properties from budget operations. Every time we needed something—whether it was extra towels, help with directions, or information about nearby restaurants—it felt like we were pulling teeth. The staff clearly lacked training, motivation, and any sense of guest care.
SUMMARY: Misleading, Overpriced, and Deeply Disappointing To sum it up: this hotel misrepresents itself entirely. It is NOT a 4-star property, it is NOT convenient, and it is certainly not hospitable. This is a 2 to 2.5-star hotel with a 4-star price tag, and the management and customer service make the experience even worse. I cannot emphasize enough how unwelcome and frustrated we felt throughout the entire stay.
We ended up cutting our stay short because it simply wasn’t worth the frustration, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to book a different hotel. There are many properties nearby that actually live up to their branding, offer basic functionality like working elevators, and treat their guests...
Read moreThe hotel is beautiful, gorgeous and the staff are brilliant. I’ve rated the stay a 4 but would want to lower my rating—-however, the reasons I disliked my stay aren’t a reflection on the quality of service provided by the hotel and more a reflection of the location, so it wouldn't be fair to the hotel to provide a lower rating.
This hotel wasn’t a good fit for me and my trip. It’s in the la défense area, which is a unique area filled with many tall glass buildings, a large shopping centre, and direct access to the subways. The area itself is stories above the little town below, which is awe inspiring for someone into that kind of engineering.
The area wasn’t a good fit for me because it felt too sterile and grey—it was not a good fit for the paris trip I had envisioned. It was a last minute booking after my other hotel needed to cancel due to renos and I wish I had spent more time looking into the surrounding area. I’m also a night owl and things seemed to start closing down a little too early for me. However, the area felt very safe—some folks in unfortunate situations asking for money, but they also were respectful of my space.
As for the hotel rooms themselves, they’re gorgeous, but a little too dimly lit for me, especially when looking at screens. I wish I had the option within the room to add more light. The hotel itself also seemed like a larger building in the images, but its actually a section of a larger building—not a problem, just different from my expectations from the pictures of the hotel alone. Sometimes the staff’s tone felt less friendly—like they were trying to rush the process and get rid of us—-I may have just been tired from travelling though. Overall, the staff helped with everything we needed and answered any questions that came up. The cleaning staff were great.
Otherwise, beautiful rooms, great coffee station with a little pod coffee machine, and the tv was able to connect to netflix and other streaming services with ease. We got two rooms and only one of them had an iron, which we found confusing. The hotel is very well designed aesthetically. I slept well and was able to get to where I needed...
Read moreThe reception at the hotel was very warm and kind. The staff all spoke good english. When we had a question or issue it was handled swiftly and with care. The breakfast was okay. For a 5 star hotel i think the options were a bit limited. Also on the first day, the mushrooms and sausages were cold. On day two it was warm. So i guess someone forgot to turn on the stove on day 1. Besides this i did feel a need for maybe a stand where fresh omelettes or crepes could be made by a chef. I did not ask for it, but i do think they would make it for you if you asked, the staff at the breakfast were very attentive and helpfull.
The room was also very nice. The bed was soft and the pillows were firm, just the way i like it. There was no view out of the window. But this was to expected, Since the building is not that high and its pretty central in La défense. I liked the warm overhead shower, however the water pressure for hot water was a bit lacking in my opinion.
The Location is also pretty good, close to the Metro, within 15 minutes you can be at the Champs de elysee, also there is a mall closeby with many eating options.
I would want to give 4,5 stars for this hotel. But can only give 4 or 5 stars. In the end i did give the 5 stars because i enjoyed my stay and the staff was really good!
Side note: This is a business hotel, we only spotted one family during our stay. Since i like a peacefull setting this was a big plus for me. Although i did feel underdressed a bit coming to breakfast in my hoody...
