BE CAREFUL - they will not / may not honor your Free Cancellation booking even if you paid extra for it.... as I did.

I booked a 4 night stay for Sept 8, 2024. Realized I made a mistake on the date and Expedia had trouble changing the date for me, I cancelled the booking on July 26. Expedia confirmed the free cancellation was successful. I then rebooked for Sept 9.

When I checked in on Sept 9, I was told I had two bookings. I informed them that I had already cancelled the first reservation, they said I need to sort it out with Expedia. Called Expedia after my trip and sent them the credit card statement showing two charges and the hotel receipt. Since I didn't hear back from Expedia, called them again this month, Oct 2024.

Expedia attemped several times to get the refund from Hotel Korner, however, the hotel didn't approve my cancellation.

I made the reservation on July 7, paid extra for the free cancellation option. Cancelled on July 26, that's 42 days before the Sept 6 free cancellation deadline. It's rather shocking the hotel doesn't approve my cancellation. There is no warning anywhere on the website stating a refund is not automatic even if it's cancelled WAY before the deadline. I emailed the hotel and haven't heard from them. Doesn't look like they have any intention to refund me.

Why offer "Free Cancellation" and charge more for it if this hotel has no intention to honor their claim?!?! This is false advertising!!!

Now I am wondering how many other hotels are like this on...

Like the comments below, my stay was canceled, but 15 minutes before I was suposed to check in. I went to the hotel and there was construction going on inside. I didnt get any message from the hotel. After I messaged them (pretty angry), they sent me a picture from 14th of March from some chat on Booking "as proof" they let me know (in French) that they cant honour the reservation. I dont know who that message went to, but it didnt reach me. So they knew on the 14th they will be closed, but waited untill 18th, 15 minutes before I am suposed to check in, after I flew to Paris from a different country, to actually cancel the reservation. Not only did they not cancel my reservation on time but on the 15th I got an email saying literally "Your stay at hotel Eiffel is confirmed". On the 17th they sent me a message on Whatsapp saying "Your room will be ready from 3pm. A host will be there to welcome you". They had my phone number, my email, and not only didnt let me know that the stay was cancled, but sent me info confirming my stay, when they knew it wont happen. Then I had to find a new hotel, and as we all know, when you look for a hotel in Paris 1h before you need it, its really cheap. Why didnt they cancel my reservation on the 14th????? Your guess is as good as mine. Worst hotel experience I ever had, and I travel constantly for work. Wish I could give less than 1 star. I have emails and messages to confirm everything I just said if the good people from the hotel...

-The hotel staff is so friendly and helpful! I felt really comfortable. It has a super small and slow elevator. Luckly my room was on the first floor so I was able to use the stairs. You can buy your breakfast but even if you don’t, you are still allowed to grab some cookies from the reception and borrow some of the forks, plates etc. You can also buy beverages or precooked meals in the reception and heat them in the microwave 24 hours available. Rooms have: basic amenities and hair dryer. There is no air conditioning and refrigerator. There is a little fan for summer days. Compared to other hotels of this range in Paris, I found the rooms very pretty, white and modern. With huge windows and fresh air. Door is opened with a card that you can take out of the hotel with you which is really convenient. There is a safety box in the room. The area of the hotel is so pretty and you can walk to the Eiffel tower. You can hear and feel the subway but I could sleep well anyways. The shower is amazing! Prices are good considering the location...

I honestly booked this hotel in error. I didnt read the reviews. Pls always read reviews. When we arrived, the staff were very pleasant. They kept our bags because we arrived early. That was thoughtful of them. At checking in, I was shocked to hear il be staying on the 5th floor, and the elevator doesn't work. 😲 After telling the receptionist I had a bad knee, she changed my room to the first floor. But from the reviews, I see most people have already complained bitterly about the elevator not working (for months). The stairs are very narrow with their cleaning stuff occupying part of the stairs. The room we got was below standard. It was tiny. No wardrobe. No bedside table. No intercom to call the reception. No Air conditioning, just a small fan that isn't soo close to the bed. The bathroom was nice and clean. The cleaner does a job. But overall, I would Not recommend this hotel, and i will never return there. Its better to go where you can get better value for your money. I will rather call it a Hostel. That's my opinion.

This hotel is awful! It’s not worth €20! The rooms look like in dormitory, very basic and extremely hot! There is no air con and it’s so hot that it’s unbearable. Because the windows have to be open due to the heat, the noise from the street and constant police sirens meant I didn’t get a nice night sleep at all. We went to have breakfast at nine and there was one slice of ham left and Brie. The baguettes were so stale, that I start to think maybe they get them from bakery for free, because there is a lot of people here, so it’s not possible they wouldn’t get eaten in time before they got to that staleness. The yogurt was out of date by four days and when I told them, they didn’t even say sorry. There were fruit flies in the kitchen, one was sat on the baguette! To top it all off, the lift stopped working and we were on the top floor! Avoid avoid avoid!
