I love the hotel, its quaint, clean and comfy. This was our first time staying here and we will/would most certainly come back on our next trip to Paris.
The hotel is situated close to the Eiffel Tower, just walk left to the corner and make a right turn and you're looking at the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is about 10-15 minutes away at a nice pace, so we walked there on Sunday morning. Restaurants, you have several with 5 minutes walking distance.
The rooms are quite nice and clean, though on the smaller side but all these older buildings have small rooms. They utilize all the space quite well. The place was renovated back in 2003 and it has some history as workers who helped build the Eiffel Tower stayed here. They has usb power next to the bed and on the desk, and there is a HDMI port so I hooked up my Roku and it was just like home. Remember to bring power adapter for Europe! I love how efficient and green the hotel is as far as energy consumption, there is a card slot inside your door you must put your card in for the lights to work, when removed the lights go out.
I had great conversation with Thierry who spoke quite well in English, I certainly made our stay quite pleasant and less daunting as I was dreading running into people who spoke little to no English. Thierry was more than welcoming as we engaged in discussions ranging from French politics to US Politics and spoke about the hotel, and I asked about the breakfast which was quite good. Fresh Croissants....mmmm very good, the breakfast was continental style some hot offerings, it was a great way to start our day off not having to wonder about breakfast.
We look forward to coming back to the hotel, alas I will not see Thierry as he will be working at another hotel he informed me. Be well my friend and hope to bump into you next time we visit Paris. This was great first exposure to the French people and hospitality I will not soon...
Read moreWithin the first few minutes of being in the room I knew there was an issue with the heating. I persisted for two hours with different settings but it made no difference. I had to have a shower to warm up as it was so cold.
I spoke to reception who advised me that their system said it was 26° in the room but they came to look. They didn't do a lot and said I must be someone who feels the cold.
A further conversation with reception later and it was suggested that a portable heater may be found for me to use, as though it was a massive favour. I was also offered to move room from 102 to 602. I went to look and spent 10 minutes in there and again the same issue, the heating didn't work.
On the second day a technician arrived to look and said there was a fault where it wouldn't work on the higher setting. He would come back the next night when I was out.
He arrived, two hours before we agreed, so I had to rush to get ready and out of the room for him to carry out the repairs.
On my return, several hours later, the technician had gone and the heating was still not working.
After my third night, I read that another guest had the same issues with the heating. Clearly a known problem as during a conversation it was suggested there were faults, but in other rooms.
Apart from the heating, which is quite important when the temperature outside is just above zero degrees, the hotel is very noisy.
You can hear everything. Every time another room uses the toilet, shower or sink, closes the door, footsteps as people walk across the room and every time someone puts something down. I could even hear the noises that the keys on the electric safe make from another room when pressed.
The room was clean and compact but one of the main reasons I chose this hotel was because of all of the...
Read moreThis has been our experience even before our arrival, but thankfully they let us cancel after few back and forth. Details of the experience: Our communication with Eva, a staff member at the front desk, has been terrible. Today (August 24, 2024), I spent half the day speaking with her, only to be given inaccurate information. When I reserved the hotel on August 21, 2024, I asked to reserve a parking spot for my 4-day stay, but I never received a response. When I called the hotel today, I had an extremely unprofessional encounter with Eva.
First, she said they had plenty of parking spots available. Then, when I called to confirm, she admitted that she had made a mistake and they actually didn't have any spots, but there was paid parking available 3 minutes away at 5 Quai Andre Citroen. However, when I checked on Google, it showed that the parking was actually 10 minutes away. She insisted that Google was wrong and promised to show me a shortcut upon my arrival, as some members of our party have knee problems and a 10-minute walk for them is challenging. The main issue I had here is she is extremely defensive and hard to communincate.
Finally, I repeatedly asked her for the contact information of her manager but was told that the manager is on vacation until September 3. I requested the manager's email address to express my dissatisfaction, but she said she couldn't disclose that. If you are her manager, is there any good...
