This was definitely over the average hostel. You have access to a bunch of sports facilities alongside other amenities within the hostel such as a water fountain, gym, cafe, working space, etc. The area is decent, but what I like most is the access to the RER. The Line E's frequency is fine and you can get to everywhere with easy considering the efficiency of the Paris Metro. Check-in was very smooth and I was able to get through within 5 minutes. The room was nice and I was able to get privacy with a curtain on the bed and keep my baggage safe with a lock I brought. I must say, what surprised me the most was the immense affordability for all the different necessities such as towels, toothbrush and toothpaste, and shampoo. The bed was relatively comfy, but what really made it annoying was the lack of air conditioning. The summer nights in Paris can be very hot and without air conditioning, I did not sleep very comfortably because I could not turn on the air conditioning or it was locked. However, I do applaud that all the floors are above-ground. I don't really like the basement ones, because they feel dingy but also you can't dry your clothes anywhere. There is also a laundry machine area in one of the above floors, so that is also a nice amenity. The showers were above my favorite. The water pressure and heat were great, but I loved the privacy you get with a door that leads into a tiny space for changing, some hooks and shelves for storage, and then leading into the shower with a curtain. This was super nice and I definitely took that to my advantage. I will definitely come back, considering how great certain parts were, but during the summer, I would definitely wish for better air...
Read moreNot a capsule stay, but actually better than a capsule in my opinion was getting a little "extra space of my own" right around the bed with a big curtain for privacy (be sure to ask for a "lower bed" though with no such space for the upper ones); and about the only thing I can think of on the downside is just "very few" outlets in the room to plug in the devices (only two in my room for 6 people). And, nicely spacious to relax & move around is the "downstairs lounge" with plenty of tables & chairs (including an area like a living room with some comfortable sofas) although I wished I could have stayed there longer than the closing time of 11 pm.||As for food, apart from what's available at the lounge (mainly health-conscious types of food), there's a food area including a supermarket at just about a 5-minute walk (to the right after coming out of here, then to the left at the big street followed by another left at the light then a walk down that street) and where my "usual place" (during a 4-day stay) was a small take-out restaurant for chicken & rice.||And yes despite its location a little far from the area of city center is a "nice proximity" to the Rosa Parks station (just a very short walk to the left after coming out) from which is just a short metro ride to Haussmann - Saint Lazare where pretty much all connections can be made to the city's main tourist sites (such as the Eiffel Tower, the Army Museum with the tomb of Napoleon, the Louvre Museum, and actually also the Versailles on the outskirts of the city with a direct train from Pont de l'Alma station after a connection from Haussmann -...
