My experience at Roza Guesthouse was extremely negative. Months before arriving, we made reservations for a 7-day stay in Mestia via email. A few weeks before our arrival, we double-checked to confirm everything was in order, and Roza responded affirming the reservation.
However, upon arriving on the day of our trip, tired after a long and arduous journey, we were met by someone at the Guesthouse who put us in touch with Roza over the phone. To our surprise and disappointment, Roza informed us that she had no room for us for the first 2 days and directed us to another nearby hostel at the same price. She told us that after two nights, we could decide whether we wanted to return to Roza Guesthouse or stay there.
This situation left us with no options and feeling extremely dissatisfied. We were forced to stay at the place Roza directed us to, but to our frustration, it was significantly inferior to what we had expected. I don't want to mention the name, but we certainly would not have booked it had we known what it was like.
With no other alternatives, we embarked on an exhausting and angry search for another place to stay. It took us until late afternoon to find something available, and in the end, we had to pay a high price for the new accommodation.
Roza's treatment was terrible, and this is unacceptable considering that we had made the reservation several months in advance. There was no reason for this situation to occur.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against staying at Roza Guesthouse. It was a disappointing and unpleasant experience, and I believe it is important for other travelers to be aware of this before...
Read moreWe had an excellent stay at Roza's Guest house, one night at the beginning of our four-day trek and one night at the end. Roza's hospitality is the best! She did many small things to make our stay better than expected, from having breakfast ready at 7am (earlier than normal) so we could get an early start on the trek, to letting us leave our vehicle parked inside the gate while on the trek, to helping us recover a couple of items we left behind. In addition, the accommodations are very good - clean, comfortable, and everything worked as it should - we appreciated this much more on our return from the trek, where the guesthouses along the way were not quite as up to Western tourist standards. A couple of additional notes: Roza's is really more of a small hotel now than a guesthouse, as it seems she added a nice new building sometime in the past few years. As someone else mentioned, it is a very doable 10-15 minute walk to the center of Mestia, and Roza's location is both quiet and has amazing views of the valley and mountains on the other side. Can't recommend...
Read moreI don’t understand how this guesthouse gets many good reviews. This place is more like a hotel, not a guesthouse. The first day that we got there should have given us a clue on how the stay would be. We arrived around 2pm and found many other guests waiting to get checked in. We got a room that is right by the staircase and next to the common bathroom. There was always noise. Rosa has 3 maids and none of them spoke English hence there wasn’t much interaction. Breakfast was an extra cost. We decided to buy breakfast since the guesthouse is a few minutes walk to the main square and there aren’t a lot of cafes open. She tried to charge us 15GEL per person per day for breakfast that was not comparable to those in other guesthouses; we’ve stayed at 3 other (amazing) guesthouses before Rosa’s. To sum it up, Rosa’s guesthouse did not represent the Georgian hospitality; such a disappointment. (Picture shows that there weren’t any...
