Guest House Svan-Ski — Hotel in Mestia

I am impressed by the continual insistence among reviewers here that SvanSki is somehow of exceptional value or comfort in Georgia... it's an unfortunate and disingenuous trend that I think is colored more by sentimentality for the proprietors than actual conditions on the ground.||SvanSki is a fine value option, but that is all. Some people enjoy a "guest house" experience more than others, ie, staying in a literal room in somone's house, and I'll admit I'm generally near to the other end of the spectrum... I prefer at least a little alienation. That said, the proprietors were friendly and helpful, giving us an extra heater in our cold room, and the coffee-tea station was a bonus.||It was pretty freaking awkward, however, to lie in bed at night and hear the couple arguing loudly in the living room outside when you're trying to sleep. This is a cute and very welcoming guesthouse, the owners are lovely. The room was large and clean and beds comfortable. Wifi was sporadic but I think in this area that must be the case for a lot of guesthouses. You have full access to the guesthouse kitchen and washing machine (washing machine use for a small fee) and are told to make yourself at home, very welcoming. I found this guesthouse easy to find by downloading offline google maps, you just need to find the name of the guesthouse on a signboard on the guesthouse gate. I stayed here on the way to Ushguli. Svan-Ski is a beautiful little guest house, offering all the basic amenities you might desire as well as the most central location possible in Mestia (right at Seti Square). Gegi is exceptionally welcoming and we immediately felt at home upon arrival. The room was comfortable, clean, and included a well-appreciated heater. The house also has an open kitchen, living room, and washing machine. The stay was memorably pleasant and we hope to return...
