Our last night in Berlin. We rented a place in de Uhlandstrasse and had a great time. Now we wanted to eat somewhere nice, to top it off. Based by the reviews we decided on Taberna de Bellas Artes. Boy, how we wish we hadn't. Okay, we did not make any reservations, but we were willing to sit the half hour out, which the waiter had informed us upon. The half hour became an hour. An hour and a half. Quite a stretch, but still we were willing. Finally, after some imposing, we were seated. And seated we were. That was all. No sign of a waiter, not even a nod of recognition. When we asked the waiter at the bar if he might be possibly be able to take our order, he apologized in the most sincere way. Then nothing happened. So again, after another fifteen minutes, we decided to call it a night. Much to the waiters' disappointment. He treated us on wine and made sure we had something to eat - a few meatballs, some cherry tomatoes and bread. And then again, nobody came to our table to take our order. Now you may think that we are very quite and modest people, but that is not the case. We were merely flabbergasted by the lack of hospitality of the proprietors. Is this really happening, we asked ourselves. And yes, it was. When I made eye-contact with the waiter, he acknowledged us, but to no avail. Five minutes and a minor dispute with my companion later, I had had it. I asked for the bill - we drank some - and got civilized angry. I didn't look at the bill, just put ten euro on the counter and we got the hell out. It taught us a lesson. Don't count on the hospitality of apparently amateurish personnel who have more interest in brawly customers than in mere hungry clients. A huge disappointment. Too bad. Because Berlin is so much more fun than letting it be clouded by events...
Read moreFood: was nothing special, tasted bland, so for the food I would give 1 star Service: the service personnel did not smile even once, quite slow considering that there were no other customers, he does not make you feel welcomed, we were served with broken plates, cash only, 2 stars. Price: I guess the prices were average for a tapas bar, they range between 4.60 - 5.60. If you are hungry on the scale of 3 out of 5, you will need to spend at least 25 p.P. plus on beverages 10. Overall: I would not recommend this place to anyone. You get bad service, broken dishes/china, bland very dull tasting food, and for all this you pay a reasonable sum of money which you can only...
Read moreAlways down for Spanish tapas but maybe because we have access to good tapas in Portugal or Spain. The decoration and lighting was on point. It felt like we were among fancy Germans tourists in a Spanish restaurant in Spain but the couple(possibly the owners) were speaking German. We ordered our favourites. Mine is Pimientos Padrón and my benchmark to decide if I return. The food came very quickly but they were either cold or tasted like they were heated in the microwave. A trip to the bathroom explained it, there was only one guy in there, not possible he was...
