Tian Fu — Restaurant in Berlin

I'll start off by saying that my only complain is the service, everything is really, really good but I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars because the service is quite subpar. The food is delicious, very much like you'd experience in China and the restaurant is quite nice and well-decorated but the service leaves much to be desired - the waiter took forever to take our order, actually the order of people that have entered the place way after us and when he did take the order it just looked like he was making a huge sacrifice by simply being there. With ordering out of the way, we had to wait for a very long time for the food, we asked only for 1 starter and 2 main courses and it still took a long time. For the first time they started asking for tips, and even specify that it is 10-15% of the cost of the meal. And they say that it's common practice in Europe to pay tips at the end of a meal, which is totally a lie. Having lived in Belgium for 10 years and visited every single country in Western Europe, I confirm that giving tips is not common practice at all, unlike in the US (leaving tips separately) or the UK (tips already calculated in the bill). I can't count how many times I visited Berlin, and this is my 3rd time in this restaurant. The first 2 times were with my European friends, no tips asked; this time with a Chinese friend, tips asked. Rip-off based on customers' looks. Just for this dishonest attitude, this will become my very last time to visit...

We would have loved to try the food and leave a review. But after standing at the empty gate with a sign and being ignored - I stepped towards the indoor entrance and asked someone if we were waiting at the correct place, I was immediately and clearly told 'we don’t have time for you.' When I asked if that meant there were no tables (over half the restaurant was empty), I was told 'you go outside and wait if you want. We do not have time for you'. The tone and body language was aggressive and continued to be when my husband asked if he had to be rude. Unsure of where this all came from.
