Matrix Club Berlin — Local services in Berlin

This bar is not for colored people! We are a group of 5 people who entered the club and when we were trying to order shots one of my friend who was a bit drunk asked the bartender for an ice cube with the JD shot! We would have been okay if she said „NO“ but there was a used glass infront of us with some left over drink and she „threw“ ice cubes in that glass! I was sober and asked her if she could give that in a fresh glass but she started yelling at me that my drunk friend was not polite!! I am surprised that a drunk guy who’s not in his complete senses would use a „please“! There were other people next to me who ordered drinks earlier and were whites but did not use „please“. Because it was a scene and the bartender called the guards, The security guard was coming towards me and as I was a female so my brother was trying to protect me and stood in between to stop the guard towards me and the guards pulled his collar and pushed and threw him away which is a huge disrespect! The guards were least bothered to hear us out and kicked us out! That’s when I personally realized the whites always win over lthe colored and irrespective of the situation they kick you out of the bar!! Hence I would recommend to be very polite to the blonde lady working at the bar or else skip going to bar if you are colored! Massive disappointment and huge disrespect to the guards who were careless and stood towards the blonde lady who had mistreated us in first place!

I really hope they replace the blonde lady and hire someone who’s more sensible and understands the atmosphere!!

Being an engineer and with welloff corporate job, I have never worked as a bartender but I would have basic common sense to understand the situation and act according to the surroundings rather than expecting a drunk guy to be pleasing and polite when he’s not in his full senses!!

I’ve been to Matrix multiple times before without any issues. But last night was a completely different—and unacceptable—experience. My friend and I came from Club OHM, simply looking for a different vibe. At the door, the bouncer checked our IDs (German residence permit) and fixated on the back side where nationality is stated. After seeing that, without giving any explanation, we were suddenly denied entry.

This wasn’t about age, behavior, dress code, or anything reasonable. It was clearly based on nationality—a blatant act of discrimination. No warning, no conversation, just rejection. It was humiliating and infuriating.

Berlin prides itself on being diverse and inclusive, yet people like this bouncer are actively damaging its nightlife reputation. Gatekeepers with discriminatory attitudes don’t just ruin individual nights—they poison entire communities.

This kind of behavior must have consequences. Matrix management needs to be held accountable for who they place at the door. A bouncer who judges people based on nationality has no place representing any venue, especially not one that claims to welcome everyone. This person should be fired immediately and prevented from working in any role that interacts with the public.

Until then, I’ll be avoiding Matrix and encouraging others to do the same. Discrimination has no place...

We were here for all of 45 minutes before deciding we had enough. It was easy to get in, no dress code at all. Despite the cheap(ish) entry fee of 10€, the drinks were unbelievably poor value: they were incredibly expensive and small (vodka lemonade was €7.50, and it wasn’t even a double shot of vodka) + they watered down the alcohol. I saw people complaining that their drinks were not filled up to the amount stated on the menu, and my Jagerbomb was literally just Redbull (cost €5). Also, the cloakroom price was expensive, and they made my girlfriend and I pay separately for our coats - they then put them on the same hanger.

The music was very cringey, and sing-along songs - not very Berlin. The dance floor was full of young people (honestly they seemed like children), it was hard to actually dance with confidence because no one else was. There was not a lot of space either; there’s only one dance floor + many of the seats had signs saying they were reserved despite nobody sitting there.

Overall, it is a very tourist-friendly club, if said tourists wanted to come abroad and experience exactly zero Berlin club culture. Instead of coming here, just stay in the UK and have a sh*t night out without the need to fly to Germany and spend loads of money. Really regret wasting money here.
